Another noob with a potentially dumb question. Recently licensed MuLab on my Windows XP desktop and everything working fine and very pleased. Just bought a Windows 8 laptop (HP Pavillion G6 c/w AMD mP) and installed the 64bit version of MuLab but can't get the audio setup to work (ASIO and MME drop down options are listed but selecting them just results in an empty field). Setting up wasn't a problem under WinXP. I installed ASIO4All onto my laptop but still can't select ASIO via the audio setup. To be fair I've got no reason to suppose this is an issue with MuLab or ASIO since my WinXP set up works just fine so maybe it's a Win8 or HP thing. Hoping someone out there can advise....thanks.[/b]

What ASIO ports have you got set up in ASIO4All?

Thanks for responding to my post. Might require some patience as I'm not clear what you are referring to by ASIO ports or where to check/set them up. So far I have installed the driver and after figuring out I needed to select the off-line settings option I can tell you that it only lists the IDT HD Advanced Codec (active) and under advanced settings also lists Speaker (active), MuxedIn1 (active) and MuxedIn2 (inactive). There is no mention of ports.

In the ASIO4ALL control panel, on the left is "WDM Device List". You will have one or more (top level) entries, depending on how many WDM audio devices ASIO4ALL detects.
You should have as active only the device that represents your sound card. If you switch to Advanced Options mode (the spanner, lower right), you can expand the WDM audio devices to the individual input and output interfaces (ASIO4ALL term) each provides and each of those can be expanded further to its pins (again ASIO4ALL term).
Once you have enabled the devices/interfaces/pins in ASIO4ALL, you need to tell MuLab which to use. The MuLab->Audio Setup menu will display a panel that lets you switch to ASIO. You should then be able to select ASIO4ALL. (Yes, I get you've done this -- just going through it myself and making sure it's clear.)
If ASIO4ALL isn't an option, you'll need to find out why... The ASIO4ALL site doesn't actually mention Windows 8... You could try the ASIO4ALL forum to see if there's anyone got it working.

Before going to the ASIO forum I thought I'd try a long shot by uninstalling the 64bit and installing the 32bit version (because I already know the latter works under WinXP) and this worked! Therefore unlike the 32bit, the 64bit version doesn't allow me to set up MME or ASIO so it looks like the 64bit version may be incompatible with an HP Pavilion G6. Thanks for your help though :-)
