I am currently an iPod 4 user and find ios apps very creative and consider buying an iPad. But since the last version came last year and knowing/following Apples ridiculous ways, should I buy now or get pissed in the near future?

Both.
Welcome to Apple.

The next one will be completely revolutionary/exactly the same.

That I can guarantee.

Thank you! Made my day - off to buy one... and the second... and the third...

Just buy one and don't worry about an upgrade for awhile. Still on iPad 2 and don't feel I need an upgrade anytime soon.

I should already stop here but: audiobus working?

Yes, Audiobus is working on the iPad 2 very nicely.

And Audiobus has already more slots than the iPad 2/3/4 can handle.
_Most_ of the iPad 3/4 power is eaten up by the Retina Display
thus having a not so dramatically better experience over the iPad 2.

The next iPad will improve with better CPU and GPU as evolutional update, for sure.

But given that Apple just released the iPad Mini, which is exactly the iPad 2 in a smaller case, the iPad 2 won't be obsolete too fast, also.

But yes, give 3 years from now, nobody can tell.

just my 2¢ opinion.

But even an iPad 1 will be still a very capable MIDI controller with Lemur (which in itself is a reason to buy an iPad), until it dies from battery leaks or display fatique.

Nah. iPad 4 will give you _more_ then twice the performance compared to iPad 2/3. iPad 2 & 3 share the same CPU but have different GPU, so the difference is negligible between those two. So if you're working with CPU intensive stuff like audio (Auria & the Fabfilter plugins being a good example) and you're going from iPad 2/3 to iPad 4 you'll definitely get a much improved experience.

Personally I'm gonna hold of until iPad 5, since things aren't exactly going to be less power demanding over the next few years.

Quite nicely with no issues. Meteor, Beatmaker 2, all synths (about 25), jam up pro, Ampkit+, and everything else I've thrown at it.

No, not true. While the 3 isn't any faster than the 2, the 4 is dramatically faster, and much better for Audiobus use.

I am waiting for the superior platform. The Windows 7 and 8 touch screen will eventually get an App following. Love to have a huge real estate multi-touch screen and hope it will be velocity sensitive. See my thread http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 12#5283312

Meanwhile I am also waiting for the iPad 5 unless enChord comes out first with eChord 2.

The predictions for the iPad 5 release date is from May to November of this year.

Don't get a 16GB model.

I am constantly out of room with all the great audio stuff. Get at least 32.

They may start at 32 for all I know. Haven't looked for a while.

Absolutely. I upgraded to the 4 for Christmas and the difference is night & day.
