Notes cutting out when using sustain pedal

kv331,

I'm having a problem with notes cutting out when I use the sustain pedal. Here's how to reproduce it.

1. Bring up a patch with, say, 8-note polyphony (with both layers in poly mode).
2. With the sustain pedal held down, try to play 9 notes, one at a time.

The 9th note doesn't sound. In fact, as long as the pedal is down, no notes sound. If you want to go back and repeat one of the first 8 notes, that works.

With my playing style, this is a serious problem. The only workaround I've found is to edit every patch I use to increase the polyphony to something like 52 voices.

I'm using 64-bit Synthmaster 2.6.4.2 (Product version of the dll) from April 20 on Windows 7 with Sonar X2a.

Any possibility of a fix for this?

Thanks.

Hi Mitch,

The poly mode in SynthMaster works like this:

If a note is ON, it wont be stolen. It would be stolen only if it was OFF or in RELEASE state.

Maybe I should introduce other poly modes.

kv331,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I think other poly modes would be a good idea.

I just tried the same test in four other $100+ soft synths, and their note-allocation schemes mean that new notes always have priority. Notes are stolen from the middle (of the notes you played on the keyboard) or oldest notes are dropped first to make this happen.

BTW the sustain pedal is not an essential part of this issue, as I suggested at first.
