Has anyone had any luck in getting any of Tone 2 vst to install? If you have - could you let me know how you went about getting them to take. I have tried every route possible and always fails on me every time.

I installed the Gladiator demo on my Receptor 2, if I recall correctly just by using the installer .exe file.
What specifically did you try, and what specific problems are you having?
(Gladiator runs but the GUI isn't really responsive. Too much animation going on there.)

Hmmm- I haven't tried to do the .exe files! I'll try that one and see what results I get. So far I have tried putting the .dll files in both the "Drop installers here" and "Unsupported vst" folders only to have them fail on all attempts. I have gotten with Tone2 and they are working on it as well. Not much help from Muse since I outside of the warranty plan and on Receptor 1.
Thanks for responding!

Hi Tom
I'm pretty sure I've tried that using the .exe installer and it worked fine...

No go for me on my Receptor 1. Downloaded Demo file of Gladiator and dropped it in the "Drop installers Here" folder and again failed. Tryed to move it into a folder in "unsupported" since it already knew it - didn't even register it that time!
While I have you guys here - running Windows 7 on a laptop with "crossover" cable to Receptor. Seems like i am always having to fight to get into the Hard drive of Receptor. Always having to turn off/turn on Receptor, reboot PC. Until finally, eventually I get the hard window to come up.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Tried Tone2 Electra on a TRIO, taking the Executable and placing it in "Drop Installers here". Then went to teh Software manager and selected "Install Plugins" and ran the executable. Installed the program in to C:/VSTplugins on the hard drive, and then after installation was complete, I took the authorization key and manually dragged it to the folder where the plugin is installed.
The plugin itself sounds and works great in Mixer mode, but the GUI draws HUGE in the editor window, and in fact is drawn a little out of frame. In rack mode, for some reason, the 3D knobs are not responding to mouseclicks. Spoke to the guys at Tone2 and they have no idea what is wrong. I guess what that means is that you'd need to do your editing in Mixer mode, but I'm intrigued enough about their plugins (they sound really great) to see if we can't get to the bottom of the graphics issues. I know a few artists have installed and are using their other plugins with success, so if its the sounds you're after, you should be okay...

Great! I will give that a try and try some of their free plug-ins as well. Thanks for taking the time and doing all the leg work you did. Their sounds do sound great and now you see why I was so wanting to get them on my receptor!!
Thanks again and fingers crossed that I have as good of luck as you in getting it to run on my Receptor 1.

I didn't realize you were running a Receptor 1. Admittedly, it was designed several years before Windows 7 came out, so I'm not surprised you are having problems connecting to the hard drive. You can try entering in the network address of the Receptor directly into a browser, that often works better than going through VNC.
As for the Tone2 products, I don't know what to tell you. We haven't really tried it on any unit that is that old... I know it works on R2s and the newer products because I've installed them myself, but the OS on a Receptor 1 is really really old, and it didn't support running executables from the Drop Installers Here folder.
I don't really see a way forward with this. Only suggestion I could make (proceed at your own risk) is to try go find the .DLL file after installing the Tone 2 stuff on your Windows machine, put it in Unsupported, try installing it that way, and then manually move the license file into the Unsupported folder on the Receptor drive. It probably won't work since I would imagine that there is a lot of stuff that gets installed with the Tone 2 stuff besides the DLL, but you could try it. No guarantees / no warranties expressed or implied / proceed at your own risk.
Of course, you can trade in your Receptor 1 and get a VIP... then I know it will work!

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the reply. Actually getting ready to go noodle around on my Receptor now. I figured as much with the system being out dated and like all things in the electronics/software world it's only new for a very short time!!
I would love to trade in for the new unit but unfortunately I just not so long ago paid off that credit card that I purchased the Receptor 1 at the time they were new!! I just don't have to cash to sink into a new unit.
No worries thou. I have stuff that is on my machine and can make it sound pretty good. Plus starting to learn SynthEdit stuff so maybe I can make my own VST's of the one's I wish I could get! Plus I do have them installed on my laptop - so I can run them there via Ableton Live.
Thanks for keeping me informed. I do truly appreciate all your help.
