Having Major Issues with Zebra2 rev1560 and Cubase 7

Hi,

I'm running Mac OS 10.7.5, Cubase 7.0.4 in 64-bit and Zebra2 rev 1560. I posted not long ago about how I'm unable to move patches in Zebra while using Cubase in 64-bit. Although that is still the same, I've been encountering even worse issues now---the main one being nearly every time I close a Zebra window inside Cubase by clicking on the red-circle (the normal button to close windows in Mac OS), Cubase crashes. I'm not sure if this is limited to just my system. I'm going to have a friend try to reproduce this.

The other issue is when I start up an existing Cubase project, Zebra "forgets" my MIDI assignments for the XY pad controls. I have to reassign them every time I open Cubase. The same goes for any other MIDI assignment. For example, I unassign CC11 from the Master Volume, yet the same thing happens---when I open Cubase, it doesn't remember that I unassigned it.

I haven't tried these things out in Cubase 32-bit, but I'm assuming they'll work as they should. However, I need to run Cubase in 64-bit due to lots of instruments and plugins I have loaded.

This sounds like your permissions are odd.

- in Finder click "Go" while holding down [alt], choose "Library"
- in there, navigate to Application Support
- right-click & Get Info on "u-he"
- unlock the permissions lock in the bottom
- set permissions to read & write for you if they aren't
- click the bottom wheel and "apply to all items and subfolders"

This location should always be fully writable for you, as this is your user's Library.

Thanks for this information you gave, but unfortunately it did not work. My permissions were set on "Read & Write" anyway. However, if I got anything positive from your post, it was I learned a new way to navigate to the "Library" folder!

Hey, even though permissions may be right on that folder, they may be different on any enclosed file or folder, Hence "Apple to enclosed items"

Alternatively, check permissions on the "com.u-he.Zebra2.midiassign.txt" in that directory...

Should you not be aware of it: Zebra2 saves its settings (like MIDI learned parameters) when the GUI closes. This does not seem to happen when the host is quit with Zebra's GUI still open, so be sure to close Zebra's GUI first before exiting Cubase if you want your settings saved.

No, this didn't help either. Previously, I did do the "Apply to enclosed items." I forgot to mention that.

This didn't help me either. I've moved all my Zebras to VE Pro, and even then when I learn MIDI CCs for the XY controls, it will forget them all the next time I load that VE Pro metaframe. It's kind of frustrating to have to keep learning all the MIDI CCs every time I open Zebra.

Hi Urs,

I'm having the same issues as this person but in Pro Tools 11. No CC assignments will be remembered when I reopen a session so I'm having to re-assign any learned midi controllers. Checked permissions and all seems okay there. Otherwise, I love this instrument !
