Hallo!
If I switch AU vesion of MMultibandDynamics to "Linear-phase crossover" mode plugin has non-compensated latency, it makes plugin unusable on groups.
Os 10.8.5, Logic 9.1.8.

We know about the problem, but we still have no answer about it from Apple, we'll see.

True. I'm afraid Apple doesn't respond with anything useful yet...

Oh come on this is way to easy, just because you're putting the ball in apples court doesn't free you from obligations towards mac users IMO! How do other plugin manufacturers manage this I wonder? This just doesn't sound right!MeldaProduction wrote:True. I'm afraid Apple doesn't respond with anything useful yet...
And don't get me wrong, because I'm a huge fan of your stuff. But knowing about your attitude against apple I don't even bother sending you crash reports anymore. There is little else, we as users, can do about this ridiculous situation is there?
Friendly regards!

The trouble is, most people use the Apple libs directly, but these are so messed up, that we couldn't compile with our code, so the AU implementation is ours. And I personally spent a long time hacking this and found nothing. Apple didn't get with anything useful and, wait for it, charges for support! How riddiculous is that?... So we are stuck... maybe they will come up with something, maybe we will find the mirculous hack... who knows... Anyway I cannot spend all of the resources just on this...

Of course you have to pay, even if Apple is farting, what did you expect? You're not really expecting any solution voluntarily handed over to MeldaProductions from the G's&G's in Silicon Vally, do you?
Well, let me end with some positive remark, when your plugins work (and most of the time they do)it gives such a joy, that all other miseries are forgotten.
Well, happy hacking to you and your staff!
Cheers

Thank you
(btw. I got so far responses from all companies including Steinberg, Microsoft etc..., and didn't really have to pay
. Btw. 100 USD for 3 short questions

You don't have to tell me, I'm a client of Apple and get screwed each time they randomly choose to drop functionality and so forcing me to buy their newest product. But apparently this is the best system of all the bad ones to choose from, I'll not complain to much!
Take care!

Is there some temporary solution?
Can plugin report latency numerically for manual correction?
Or, may be, You can make "linear phase" version of plugin with fixed latency?

SGWork: Yeah
... Actually from my experience Win 7 are way more stable, faster and even has support and backward compatibilty. On the other hand Apple claims their system is the best
. Well, the truth is, Apple's marketing is great... But I don't want to get inspired by their tactics...
apunctum: I'm afraid there really isn't one. It usually works by reloading the project. Unfortunately it doesn't work in Logic, because it asks just once without loading afterwards. Some hosts update latency everytime the playback is restarted, Logic doesn't for some reason...
So for now, if you use linear-phase or upsampling on separate tracks (not master), you have a little problem. For upsampling you can choose low-quality upsampling (which just means it alters phase) in Settings, and for crossover - same thing.

Or you can use VST. Again from my experience it is way more reliable interface, despite it is soooo amateuristic
. VST3 is really good though.

I tested new Blue Cat Audio plugin "PatchWork" as a host for MMultibandDynamics VST. It can adjust latency even on the fly. So, guys from Blue Cat Audio know secret too.
About W7 - it's great, but I have to change my system, DAW and hardware (I use Apogee) for 2 Melda plugs that I prefer use in linear phase mode...
I think You can at least warn Logic users about latency issues, all I found in "System requirements" section on meldaproduction.com is "There are occasional graphical artifacts and there may be problems with cursor changes."
