General question about installer "Automatic Folder Selection"

This regards all recent U-he installers: if I've customized the installation of the data folder once, when updating will "Automatic Folder Selection" respect that choice or must "Custom" selection always be selected?

The installers always default to the "Automatic choice" and I always select "Custom" which displays the actual path I previously chose for my presets. What would happen if I chose "Automatic"?
