Little Xmas present - 19 Zebra wavetables

Hi folks!
This is a collection of 19 wavetables for Zebra/-lette. The original waves i made with different synths like Microwave2 + SoundDiver, Yamaha SY99, Kawai K5000, Korg Poly800, Kawai 100F and NI Razor. Then i put together some wavetables with Wav2Zebra.
Due to the lack of time for making some nice presets or even a complete soundset i decided to contribute them to the Zebra community as a little Christmas present. Perhaps you can find use for them and make some interesting or even useful sounds.

Would be nice to hear some sounds you made with these waves. Or even better if you would make them public here.

There are two folders:
(1) exitLaub - Xmas 2013 - wavetables
This contains the oscillator presets
(2) exitLaub - Xmas 2013 - examples
19 Zebra presets. These are only simple sweeping pads to showcase the wavetables.

I gave them a quick spin and immediately found interesting stuff. I threw together a quick jam using three instances of Zebra and nothing else. The patches are extremely simple (e.g. just a single oscillator and delay for the pad) but they all use your waves. I usually associate these kinds of sounds with Buchla and Aalto. They sound like FM even though they aren't. Cool waves! I must learn Wave2Zebra. I'll see if I can get anything useful out of my modular. I'd imagine the Malekko Anti-Oscillator might be fun to "sample" (what word should we use?).

This sounds really great. Completely different than that what i usually do with wavetables. When i use a wavetable i usually end up with a wavestation like pad or a pianoid.

I really can hear in your composition that you also work with real modular hardware.

A small tip for making your own waves: sample a sweeping sound at the note F1. This frequency always worked very good for further translation with Wave2Zebra. Then cut out some single cycle waves. One cycle should have a length of 46 ms then. 3-5 waves for the 16 slots are fine for making smooth wavetables. But be aware that not all waves will work fine with this program. Sometimes it needs a few trials with different waves for good results. Also all complex modulations which take more than one cycle won't work.

I tried to get some "unusual" spectrums when making these wavetables. The additive synthesis from K5000 and Razor and also fm worked best for me.

Could someone tell me the WHOLE path to the Modules/Oscillator folder for a Mac please? I tried to do a search, but in my experience, the Mac search function is really crappy. How come in a Mac, 95% of the search results have nothing to do with what I'm looking for? I have been struggling with this for several years. In my experience, PC's are much better at this particular function.

Thank you for the EasyFind tip, I tried it once & it worked well! This should save my sanity in the future. I don't know what the Apple people were smoking when they came up with their search function. I was so frustrated it didn't even occur to me to check the Zebra owner's manual where the modules are. Perhaps Urs can give my brain a software update.

That's exactly what i meant.
Nice patch by the way. Thanks for sharing.

You may find that some waves have not enough "low end". Just add "Fundamental" to the Osc FX. Also i often use "Expander" as a kind of pre-filter.

You can also make many more variations of the wavetables without completely losing their character with:
- Odd for Even
- Trajector
- Ripples
- Exophase

Here are four quick patches. I thought that before someone asks what the heck could i do with these thin Poly800 square waves i should do some examples.

There are two pianoids and a pad sound. Man, i wished that i could get such sounds out of my Poly. It was my first, erm, "real" analog poly synth in 1987.

Then i tried to emulate the famous Microwave1 Thunder sound. In lower registers it sounds rather good but not very close.

As a relative newcomer to Zebra2, these and the Happy Birthday presets for Zebra from others not only provide much pleasure in themselves, but also provide something better...an opportunity to learn.
