U-He Plugins Prefer AU or VST?

Hi, I'm curious if there's a performance advantage between using either AU or VST versions of U-He plugins? I noticed that Arturia's plugin's are all VST and the AU versions basically just load up the VST in a wrapper, so obviously I should be using the VST version with their plugs. Does it matter if I choose to use AU or VST in hosts which support both? Thanks!

With AU you get a whole bundle in the same package. So for Uhbik, Filterscape and Zebra it's definitely AU if you use more than one plug from each bundle in a project. You simply save memory and resources.

For everything else there's not much of a difference, but be aware that 32-bit VST2 on Mac still uses Carbon code, whereas everything else (AU, VST3, AAX, 64bit VST2) has fully gone Cocoa. Any problems that people have with stuff on Mavericks seems related to Carbon code.

The one big advantate of VST2 over AU is crossplatform compatibility. You can open a project made with Live or Studio One on both platforms if it uses VST2 versions.

Great, thanks for the informative response, Urs! I'm in 64-bit land 90% of the time now, and I use Diva every day and Podolski occasionally, so I guess it doesn't really matter which I use.

P.S. I often wear the your "Waveforms" shirt while DJ'ing or playing live ;)
