is zebra playground still the best zebra soundset?

im thinking of buying this because it seems that it offers almost unlimited tweaking and best bang for buck. one can choose any sound, add an osc preset, and then have an entirely new but controlled randomized sound. imo tasmodia is the best zebra preset designer ive heard patches from.

the complexity and detail he puts into his patches would exhaust most patch designers. but the question is, is it still worth it? its half of a hundred dollars but at the same time i feel it would be well worth the cost. is it still or has it been surpassed by other greater banks?

This sort of thing is purely subjective, though I purchased this & was very impressed with it (check out the free presets, and the audio demo)(lots of X/Y pad control stuff, not sure if it classifies as "controlled randomized sound"):

Not sure if Dark Zebra/ZebraHZ would fit the description of soundset (it is at least partially true). Not sure if you own that already, or heard the audio demo.

I have not yet purchased any tasmodia soundsets, so not sure how they compare.

Was it ever, haven't ever heard that? There are so many good soundsets out there for Zebra2.

But thanks for the flowers, that certainly made my day.

About your questions, Zebra Playground was a total labour of love with lots of diverse and tweakable sounds. But it is almost four and a half years old now so what you certainly won't find are sounds for Dubstep, Trap and all those modern day styles that are currently en vogue. But I personally still like the sounds I made very much (I am obviously prejudiced however :) ).
And on a side-note: I never do any special sales for my sounds but since the soundset is getting quite old and the Euro is still brutally strong against the Dollar, I just reduced the price to 25,- Euro. This is permanent from now, not some short-time price-reduction.

Cheers,

And it shows in the presets Thomas, it really does. :)

@Astral - If you like the sound of the preset demos andother patches by tas on the PatchLib then Playground won't disappoint. There are a ton of presets in different, unique, categories. I'm pretty sure all have XY and modwheel and there are saved XY variations to show how extreme the sound can changed w/o opening the synthesis pane. I've had it for years I don't think I've properly explored it all. I often open it up with the intent do so and find a sound that I end up playing for about 2 hours. :)

I wouldn't say Playground is the best soundset simply because that is so highly subjective and we are blessed with some really talened designers making sounds for the striped one. However, I would definitely buy it again at the non-reduced price, no questions asked.

(And Tomas is a really nice guy around these parts too)

Just googled for "Tasmodia" after falling in Love with your "Liquid Bamboo" in Halion 6 and then stumbled on this Thread here.

Liquid Bamboo in A maj... Don´t know the name of the Song anymore, but ...<3 Did you in the 90s?

You´re on may short list now. Thank you - wish you all the best!

Greetings from Darmstadt

(I was not surprised to see that you come from Germany, too - that was our Sound, wasn´t it??)

Very flattered to hear that, thx a lot.
And yup, I grew up in the 90s, and my interest in music and sound developed in the mid nineties, so definitely influenced a lot by that period.

Greetings from the deepest Thuringian forests. :)
