I was interested in messing with ADT and I managed to wrap Satin in a bidule to do stereo ADT; it sounds really good! If you're a Bidule user and you own Satin you can pick the group at the Plogue Forum here. I'm not going to re-iterate the notes I made on it there...

The reason for my posting this here is simply as a proof of concept to show how relatively easy it would be to add an ADT mode to Satin. I realize U-he has tons of projects in motion, so no rush. But please do consider it for a future update. Bidule is a great sub-host for doing stuff like this, but nothing beats efficient code and built-in functionality for smooth operation.

Just a stupid question, what is ADT other than a delay? Why can't you use the built-in delay of Satin?

The main difference between conventional ADT and Satin is the ability to precede the dry signal and the degree by which it can be modulated:

- ADT can offset the playback forward and backward in time relative to the dry signal by a fixed amount by altering the static tape speed of the ADT deck. Satin only does delay.

- ADT also modulates the tape speed using an LFO but the difference from Satin is the amount: this can range up to +/- 20 ms, if one compares to the Abbey Road implementation.

There's actually a third mode considered to be the "manual mode" where like the Flange implementation in Satin, the operator would manually interact with the speed control for specific effects and manipulations.

You're right that Satin is not very far from this; that's why I though it was worth doing and mentioning. But the latency involved in preceding the Dry signal also limits ADT to a studio effect. BTW, the original effect used one tape machine; with Satin, we can use up to four(!).
