Why Do I Need To Be Signed In To Open Subscribed Threads from Email?

The one thing that really bugs me about the new KVR is -- if I follow an link from a notification email to a subscribed topic, I can't view the thread on KVR unless I'm signed in.

This is out of step with the old KVR and literally every other forum I've used. It just doesn't make sense for posts in public forums.

I checked "My KVR" and didn't find any setting associated with this. I don't think the answer is to stay signed in or sign in automatically.

There should be an additional link in the email for not logged in situations now.
