Feature Request: display preset name somewhere

This applies to all plugins: if I select a preset, I don't see it's name once the preset selection window is closed. Also if I browse through the presets with the arrow buttons I don't see the names. Would be cool to see names, so I can remember good presets more easily.

Well, the presets usually make no sense at all and there's simply no room anywhere... sorry... If you have some ideas where to place it, let me know, but I just don't see it and the information is less than important, so...

Well YOUR preset names really make no sense
But mine do! I mean, otherwise the whole concept of preset storing would be useless if you can't identify them by name, right?
There MUST be space somewhere. Every plugin displays the preset name.

That's true for your own 'creations' of preset names which only fill the hearts of lovers of rhetoric LSD'ism.MeldaProduction wrote:Well, the presets usually make no sense at all...
But once a user starts to store own presets the missing display is a disadvantage.

Looking at the preset names, I always thought Vojtech must have studied medicine or something like that...
Always when I found a nice preset, I cannot remember the name the next day. Worse than girls...

You know, to be honest, I thought Vojtech generated a lot of his presets with the random preset generator.
And the names where taken by randomly picking words from an electronic dictionary

OK lets be serious again:
Just left to the "presets" button there is a lot of space. Between the plugins name and the preset button. Couldn't you just put the name there?

This feature is one I have always missed on a long line of plugins!
Add to this feature, that if the one changes the plugins parameters, an asterisk is added, so one knows this [if in doubt] - good info for those who might want to save the changed preset using the same or a new name.

How about popping it up in a tool-tip when the mouse hovers over the 3x3 dot matrix icon?
With a trailing * if any values have been changed.

Good point. Yes, that is also the usual behaviour of other plugins out there.

What do you mean? Not at the PC right now... isn't the upper line of plugin name and preset buttons the same in all views?DarkStar wrote:Not in all views of the plug-insCableChannel wrote:OK lets be serious again:

Hm mabye make "settings" and "bypass" icons only, without text? Those are pretty standard things foung in every plugin as simple buttons, or items in a dropdown menu.
I would really like to see the preset name immediately, not via tooltip. Or at least, IF there is enough space, display the name, IF NOT, display an icon with tooltip?

Ok, so CableChannel is right, it's a random generator! How did you know! No! No! The secret is out
.
Now, sorry, but the preset name is just irrelevant. There could be a collapsible pannel below the title, that would show it, but there is NO other place. The fact that in some plugins there's some spare space in the title is irrelevant, since the names may be long and only a few plugins have the space anyway. And removing names from the buttons? Absolutely not! It must be easy to understand, the fact that some other plugins show the preset name isn't an argument at all. After all, Melda plugins are very different from anything - these aren't just the simple toys with a few knobs and lots of wasted space. The collapsible bar is now the only solution I see...
