It's got support for custom themes, but it seems to have some issues with how it blends colors and it turns grey if the alpha is set above 7F.

Just encountered this bug, went away in a new project and didn't come back when I reloaded the saved project, which was saved after the bug occurred. Here's a WAV recording in case seeing the exact waveform is helpful. https://mega.nz/#!R8kBSIzD!w7EP151o9Mbz ... 9h-T21MAE4overhishead wrote:Every time I load Dexed lately, the preset sounds garbled. This never seemed to happen before, odd. I'm using Reaper on windows7/64, and i run all plugins as a separate process.
anybody else getting garbled sound on loading Dexed?
FL Studio 32-bit on Windows 7 64-bit in 44100Hz, only other instrument loaded before I added Dexed was FL's FPC, had Edison loaded, Voxengo SPAN in master but disabled, a few instances of apQualizer open, ToneBoosters TimeMachine, TDR VOS Slick EQ, AirWindows NC-17, and FL's Parametric EQ 2. It didn't seem particularly overloaded in CPU or memory. ASIO4ALL v2 settings are 2 Kernel Buffers and 2048 samples buffer size. Current status reads "Open, set to 44100Hz, Int32LSB, 4x2 outputs, 4x2 inputs available. Latency: input: 2048smp, output: 4096smp, output + plugins: 4282smp (98ms)". I haven't adjusted these settings in a long while.
I can't pinpoint anything odd that I've done this time except I don't think I've used TDR VOS Slick EQ and Dexed in the same project before but it might be coincidental. I've been messing with loading and unloading the two plugins in various orders and nothing breaks.

This bug concerns algo 5 and 6 , differences between engine type ( mark 1 versus modern ) .
Algoritm 5 : only operator 6 is feedback enabled .
Algoritm 6: is output of carrier 5 back to modulator 6 which in turns goes into 5 ..thus both operators are part of the feedback loop
Both algorimts have a different character when feedback is enabled ..
Now the bug .
The bug is when dexed is set to 24 bit engine option , algoritm 6 is treated the same as algoritm 5 ., you can clearly hear this when switching algoritms , engine type .
In 24 bit algo 6 , is completely ignoring the feedback going from 5 back --> 6
The engine settings should have no effect on the algoritm settings ., recreating both algo's in an fm synth like fm7/fm8 or sytrus ...both algoritms have different character .
And this should be the case with dexed too when switching engines .
On the dexed site , the creator states that the engine type also has an influence on the bit depth of the sine waves and the amplitude scales , this should be no reason why the modern engine ignores a feedback opera-tor .
Other F.M. synths do it correctly
Here's algo 6 on both fm 7 and dexed .
Soundfile .
https://app.box.com/s/qk248k3llx8cbqu8ommuwn9zmoysc0ij
Soundfile has three parts.
Of course only operator 5 and 6 are enabled ( the rest is of no use )
First part is fm 7 , then dexed (set to mark 1 engine ) , then dexed again set to modern engine .
The first 2 parts sounds the same , the third part is wrongly playing algo 5 instead of 6 ( see description above )

Yes, I know: "Modern" engine is a copy of https://github.com/google/music-synthesizer-for-android and multi-op feedback algos have never been implemented.gentleclockdivider wrote:This bug concerns algo 5 and 6 , differences between engine type ( mark 1 versus modern ) .

I've worked on "Mark I" and implemented the feedback for algo 4 and 6. They required an ugly hack and it explains why Raph didn't implement them in the first place. In the future, the modern engine will become deprecated in dexed since the DX7 was never 24-bit anyway.

It's not released yet... you are looking at the development page, the real dexed page is here: http://asb2m10.github.io/dexed/. I am not releasing those development builds since they might be used in the wild and QA needs to be done first.
I'm working on to fix the mono issue and trying to build a Mac installer without having to pay the Apple Developer 100$ tax.
Should be released in March/April.

I may have an older version of Dexed, because it doesn't accept my pitch bending and modulation when I use for example the 'SE Asian harmonica' sound (as I call it as it was used in tons of 80s Asian songs).
Checked: I have Dexed 0.9.3
My DAW is FL Studio 12 and my MIDI board is an Origin 37 by Midiplus.
I'm thinking because I got it from a different site, vst4free. I need to get it from GitHub.
Will you fix the mod wheel issue.

Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Check the pitch-bend and mod-wheel settings in Dexed's PARM screen. That's where you set the global settings for the synth. And keep in mind that you won't hear any changes to anything you do there until you close that window. Nothing will take effect until you go back to the main screen in Dexed.Music Bird wrote:I may have an older version of Dexed, because it doesn't accept my pitch bending and modulation when I use for example the 'SE Asian harmonica' sound (as I call it as it was used in tons of 80s Asian songs).

The version on vst4free.com is almost certainly the same as the one on GitHub, but just to be sure, you should either get the file from GitHub or from the link here on KVR.

Here is a small update to dexed, useful if you use it with a DX7...
https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed/releases/tag/v0.9.4
Changelog:
* Standalone application version of Dexed
* Midi learn support for midi CC messages
* More accurate detune for operators
* More accurate EG envelopes. thanks @jeremybernstein
