I'm thinking of purchasing East/West Quantum Leap Piano but I'm not sure if it is compatible with my VIP receptor. Can anyone advise me on this, thank you.

I wish it was... they have some excellent libraries and sadly there isn't no really big reason why the entire East West libraries couldn't work on Receptor. It gets down to their unbelievably complex installer and a threading issue on Windows that they said they have fixed in the latest Play engine... we've sent them a unit and asked for their help in getting it sorted, but they have stated that they are too busy to help.

You might want to contact them and request support for Receptor, but to be honest, there are lots of really excellent pianos out there as well... in fact between Synthogy Ivory, Arts Vista C7, Imperfect Samples Walnut Grand, Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand (which I just tried and I am MIGHTY impressed with, BTW) Galaxy Steinway, PianoTeq 5, and literally dozens of others, its a bit like pianists are spoiled for choice these days!!

All the best

Thanks Bryan. I'm going to look into your suggestions. I'm familiar with a couple but the rest are new to me. I'm confident that I'll find something I like among your suggestions.

Truth be told, probably 60% of the pianos you hear on stage on a Receptor these days are Ivory 2, or Italian Grand, or American Concert D...the others would be various Kontakt piano libraries (some which are very good!) and Pianoteq, which is impressive in its own unique ways.

There is something about the Ivory engine that makes it run PARTICULARLY well on Receptor, so people just really like the sound and the feel... to the point where some acts have actually have a VIP dedicated just to running Ivory as their main piano sound!

You know, I 've just discovered that your product, my beloved Receptor 2 + Pro Max is actually completely obsolete. It's not only East West Quantum Leap libraries that I can't use, but also almost the entire catalogue of Native Instruments. Dear Muse Research, I am thankful for the great sound module (I really am!), but this is not the right strategy for augmenting your fan base. I was told that basically, I had to buy one of your new models Trio or Quattro, by your support guy. Well, what would garantee me that in a year or so, I'll end up not being able to install anything on it and then you'd suggest I buy your next product - Receptor Quinto or whatever the model will be named...I don't believe that this is the right way to treat customers. Oh, and btw this epiphany cost me like 500 $ on libraries from NI and EW QLeap, that now I have to buy a decent computer to run on.
Didn't mean to offend anybody, but didn't want to be treated like this myself either.

Hello,

I am still awaiting your response via e-mail. I did not mean to offend you in any way by informing you that the ability to install as windows 7 is a VIP/Trio/Quattro only feature. If you would like to continue working on the problem I may be able to solve some of the issues you are having.
