Hi,
I’m trying to install the MFreeEffectsBundle, however the installer quits immediately after starting.
The installer is from the file mfreeeffectsbundle_8_06_setupmac.zip, which was downloaded today.
OS version is Mavericks 10.9.5, all updates applied.
The zip file was expanded with Stuffit Expander (version 15.0.7) as per the release notes.
Permission have been rebuilt.
The following message appears in the console: “28/10/2014 8:06:22.054 pm com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[518]: (com.meldaproduction.msetup.2134032[14804]) Exited with code: 255”
No crash report appears to have been written.
Thanks

Hi,
ok, so what exactly happens what you run the installer? How about GateKeeper? That god damn thing should be disabled by default, but... Here's how to do it:

GateKeeper has long been given the flick as the PITA it is (I’ve checked and it’s still off).
So what happens? Double click on the installer. The Dock adds the icon for the installer and bounces it a couple of times, but then deletes the icon before the installer presents any interface, and the above message appears in the console. No system log files are written.
BTW, the way your installer is built, with everything in a single setup.dat file, I can’t extract the AU .components from the installer and do a manual install.

Ok, so it doesn't even start? Well, please first ensure you really used the StuffIt expander (or rather Archive utility on Mavericks), so we don't spend time for nothing.
Next if it won't help, no crash log has been reported?
If both are true, then we'll have to get the debug version working, because something would need to be very wrong in there...

I used StuffIt Expander (right clicked and used Open With) as per the instructions and not the OS supplied expander.
No crash log produced, I deleted everything in /Library/Logs and ~/Library/Logs and reran the installer in case I was missing anything.
I’ve also tried expanding the zip with an older version of Stuffit, with The Unachiver, and with Archive Utility.
On a whim, I downloaded and tried the installer for the Total Bundle, and it has the same problem.

Ok, so let's get to the hardcore stuff. Please download this and run it:
http://www.meldaproduction.com/temp/setup.macdebug.zip
It should simply ask for password and then it will say "no data available...", because well, there are no data
...
Anyway if it won't work, check this path:
HOME/Library/Application support/MeldaProduction/DEBUGLOGS
There should be one or more HTM logs, so please send them to info@meldaproduction.com (we should move the whole thing to email, it's faster and easier...)

It is the same thing. The problem is, the installer couldn't find any fonts in Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts. It will be fixed, but for now please just copy Arial.ttf, which should be present somewhere in your system, into Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts.

Just a quick note in case anyone has the same issue; the "Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts" directory didn't exist on my iMac so I had to create the "Font" directory and copy the Arial.ttf file into it, after that it works fine.MeldaProduction wrote:It is the same thing. Very well, thanks for the info. An update will be released soon and it should fix the problems.
