Hello
last month I have tested mulab 5 trial well.
Then I have buyed a mulab6 *key for the last version.

1.Trouble
After installation mulab6 and inserted *key I have trouble with the audio inputs. Only 3 of 4 works

well. The 4th input does not work. The used soundcard is a MAYA 44 with 4 inputs. The MAYA Software

shows 4 proper inputs. I see a audio level for all 4 inputs and the monitor output sonds well.
When I setup the Audio Inputs in Mulab I can activate the MAYA 44 and the 4 channels.
In Mulab I can record only 3 of the 4 channels. The 4th channel is soundless.
I have tried it several times.

2.Trouble
Then I have another trouble.
I have made a 2nd installation of Mulab for a test. Same PC, another directory.

When I have copied the key into Mulab I get the message: "key is outdated"

Now I can not activate mulab well any more.
Both installations of mulab will not be activated.

Ok at last I have made a NEW installation of W7. SAME PC, but new HDD. (Old HDD removed)

Same, when I have copied the key into Mulab I get the message: "key is outdated"

Please give me information for a proper installation of mulab.

best regards

Do you use the ASIO driver of your soundcard?

Do you enable all inputs / outputs in MULAB menu -> Audio Setup -> Select Inputs / Outputs ?

Did you properly setup the audio input modules?

FYI: In the audio input editor you can select an input pin for left and an input pin for right.
If only left is selected then the audio input is delivering a mono output.
That way you can create different input modules that combine the different input pins of your soundcard.

Sounds like you're still using your initial user key and not your permanent personal user key which has been emailed to you.

For more info on the difference between initial user key and permanent user key see http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/ ... ation.html

Hope this helps.

Thank you for reply.

YES and ASIO4ALL too.

I know what you mean. I have chosen variations and tested. But now I'm focused on the 2. trouble.

Yes, you are right. I have only used the initial user key. I have not seen the difference.
Thank you very much. I will try it out on afternoon. Then I can focus me on the 1.trouble.

About trouble 1: Please carefully check the signal path(s). I understand you already did that but pls continue checking on your side. MuLab's ASIO engine is working fine for years already on many thousands of computers, i doubt it will be an issue on MuLab's side, to be honnest. (i stay open for the possibility, of course, but statistically i doubt it in this specific case). If all checks still don't deliver a solution, then question: Could it be that there is a prob with the soundcard and/or its driver?

Good morning,
2.trouble was my fault. Mulab works well. Thank you for your help.

For the 1.trouble I have made a screenshot.

It shows the Input configuration, the mulab wiring and the Maya monitor.

If I give 4 sounds on the 4 inputs following happens:

MAYA monitor:
All 4 input monitors shows the corresponding peaks.

Mulab:
Only rack 5,6 and 8 shows a corresponding peak.
Only the sounds from input 1,2 and 4 are on the speakers.

If I change the mulab wiring: Maya 1/2.1 to Rack 7 and Maya 3/4.1 to rack 5
Only rack 6,7 and 8 shows a corresponding peak.
Only the sounds from input 1,2 and 4 are on the speakers.

It looks like an error at the sound card.

If I switch on the monitor button at the Maya monitor, there is a sound from input 3 on the speakers. But nothing happens inside mulab.

I have no other software to check out the Maya sound card.

Please also post a screenshot like above but with audio input fed to all 4 audio inputs so that all relevant level meters are showing level. Also open all 4 editors for the Audio Input modules (2 x "MAYA 1/2" and 2 x "MAYA 3/4")

Hello
I am not so familiar with mulab.
do you mean with "all 4 editors" the small what I show here ?
Image
Sorry that is not the PC with the Maya therefore is no value in the screenshot.

Post

Yes that's the one i mean. But i now realize they're modal so you can't open them all 4 together. Are they all 4 setup as they should i.e. did you select the relevant audio input pin for them?

Post

It is no problem.
I can make separate screenshots.
I will do it on afternoon.

Post

Ok here is the the screenshot.
The 4 editors are superimposed.
All level meters (Mulab and MAYA) are showing level on the same time.
Input signals are from 4 different microphones.

I have checked the combination
Left Input : Maya44 3/4:L
right Input: Maya44 3/4:R

It makes no difference. Maybe Rack 7, ONLY the right channel shows a level.

Really a strange situation, i don't know what's going on there.

Please also contact the Maya support center and ask them what they think about this.

No that should not be the case because the 3rd input is (just like the other inputs) just using a single input pin which implicitly means it's delivering a mono out signal and so both left and right of rack 7 should show the same signal (if any).

As a double check on MuLab side, insert an audio mixer strip in the modular area and connect its input to the output of that 3rd input module that is connected to rack 7. Then open the mixer strip editor and see if it shows any level. I assume it will show no level either, right?

Good idea I will check it.

Yes I have done it today.
ESI forum for Maya is a dead forum. Last answered thread is from January.

Using your last picture: What happens if you set the Mono/Left to Maya 3/4 R and set Right to Maya 3/4 L ?
