I just got a new laptop, and am running for the first time under Windows 8.1. If I select ASIO (I presume it's a default version that installs with Traction 5), there are no audio devices to select. Under XP and Windows 7 I never had this issue before.
Is an updated version of ASIO required for windows 8.1?
PS - the Behringer UCA-222 works just fine as a "windows audio device". Under my Windows 7 machine I could select either internal hardware, or the UCA USB device.

I just got one too, and I'm wondering whether my 32-bit Spike will work on it.
I believe there's something different on W8.1, rather than ASIO. Let me see if I can remember or find what it's called.... your audio device is plugged in, I assume...
My Googlings seem to suggest ASIO works with W8 and W8.1, so I don't know what it was that I was thinking of.
Did you install ASIO4ALL?

Asio works fine with win 8. You need to have an Asio compliant audio interface installed and an Asio driver for the interface, or install Asio4all for an interface that doesn't have an asio driver.

OK - I'll try a current version of Asio4All. On my Windows 7 machine, I didn't explicitly install ASIO at all, and it seemed to be installed automatically (with tracktion 5) and worked perfectly (to my surprise !). Now it's going to take some tweaking with Windows 8.1? I already see my audio properties had to be tweaked to get the UCA222 to be recognized as a stereo pair, and it doesn't seem to present both laptop audio PLUS the UCA interface, as I did previously to send the click track to just the PC speaker, not the mixer output.
Update - Asio4All version 2.12 works just fine.
