Hello all,
I am trying to learn MuLab coming from Ableton Live. Learning a new DAW is a painful process.

So I am trying to figure out how trigger a free-running (hz) LFO or a Sample Player on sequencer start and stop it on sequencer stop. It is alluding me.

I would think these would be events? Or events are just MIDI events? Isn't there a MIDI start event somewhere?

Looking at the Event Monitor no entries are made on Start and Stop.

Please enlighten me.

No there are no such explicit "sequencer start" nor "sequencer stop" events that can be used by the modules.
About the sample player: Why would you like to sync it to sequencer start/stop? Can't you find a solution using note events?
About the LFO: You can restart an LFO by sending a note event to it.

Bummer.

For what I'm doing, the sample player contains a control signal that needs to always be present. It is a 1 minute sample that loops over and over. Once I trigger it then I cannot shut it off. As far as note events or audio embedding, I'm trying to conserve tracks. The end result will be a trial exposure for many new MuLab users who don't have MIDI/DAW experience. It is part of the MindPlace Kasina light and sound project.

If I could use say something like a sequence player to 'embed' the trigger note that would work, but again I can't seem to sync it with start and stop. Same thing with the LFO, you can retrigger it but it never stops.

Maybe a multi-envelope with the release will do it. I'd be happy to modulate the Volume of the sample player.

Anyway, I'm trying a bunch of things and observing the behavior through the Modulation monitor... using Mappers has some promise if I could clamp it to a max and min. No such luck yet.

I'm picking up the project where some else left off and learning MuLab while I go.

Thanks for any insights.

My money is on AndreasD having a solution :hihi:

This patch gets me really close.
What I am doing is using an Audio Envelope as a trigger upon sound playback.
The modulation from it is output to a Modulation Mapper.
The mapper is set to a saw up with a negative offset.
Then I go into a Parameter Event Generator set to Volume with a resolution of 24.
That goes into the Event Input for the Sample Player.
It works ok with a bit too much wiggling but still within my range. And it does trigger at sequence start and stop with the audio playback. The Parameter Event clamps down the volume to 0 at sequence stop.

The challenge I have is that the sample must be at around -36db to meet the spec. I really want a 2 state value 100% and 0%. Right now the resolution of 24 and the offset puts me close enough to -36db.

I might add in an Amplifier or make my life easier and set the volume of the sample before I import it and just use it full range.

Thoughts on a better architecture?
