This may be a stupid question, but I've read the manual and cannot figure out what the MIDI Programs folder is for. I realize you can load up to 128 patches in there that automatically load when the synth is opened. These patches can then be accessed by "MIDI program change messages"? What are those?
What is the benefit of posting patches into this directory, as opposed to the Local/User folders?
If anyone could let me know of what real-world application they use the MIDI Program folder for, that'd help out a lot.
Thanks!

Real-world application would be switching patches on-the-fly via a MIDI controller, for live usage.

... or even changing programs in the middle of a track. Some people actually do that!
