Virtual docked keyboard sliding toward left and right by simple drag

Hello Jo!

May I submit you this very simple feature request of a function which seems to be missing in the virtual docked keyboard? It's not cruelly missing but it would be nice.

Image

It is already possible on the undocked keyboard, I know. But could you add it to the docked keyboard? I don't know if it is complex to do but I humbly (without having knowledge in development) think that it's probably quite simple...

A little ability like this one would be interesting when browsing patches for example, some being better to test at the high octaves while others are better to test at low octaves (and there are other reasons to have this ability to directly go to a different octave during tests of Mux parts and VST plugins).

If you feel that it's complex to add this request, drop it, it doesn't matter... It's just asked to make a bit simpler and more direct the simple access to other octaves without using the zoom nor the docked keyboard.

Thanks !

I'll +1 this as I got bitten by it just the other day.

It's already there: Right-click and drag, just like any other view that can be scrolled. Note that this applies to ALL scrollable keyboards in MuLab / MUX eg also in the multi-sample editor.

Maybe the focused module keyboard (at the top) should contain a scrollbar to make clear it's scrollable but that would take too much height.

Oh nice!
:D

May I though keep a suggestion, Jo, for that feature?

It would be to show a small yellow tooltip "Right-click and drag to scroll among the octaves" during one or two seconds the first time it is overflown in a session. Just the first time and during only one or two seconds (it doesn't affect the action made by the gesture), so that everybody knows the tip and once it is done it doesn't appears anymore for that session and so it doesn't bother anybody.

It's just a suggestion. Because I'm pretty sure that very few persons know that tip.

Another option is to add 2 little scroll buttons aside.

It would take room too...
:D

And perhaps a very thin horizontal scroll bar would fit better. Very thin, say 5 pixels height for example. And at the top of the keyboard (above the black keys) rather than at the bottom of the whites. Simply to minimize to almost zero the risk to activate a key instead of sliding the view.

Look what it renders with 5 pixels of height (it seems very acceptable):

The image zoom ratio is here 1:1. We see the exact size.

IF it would be a scroll bar then it would be the same as the other scrollbars everywhere. And i think having a scroll left/right buttons at the right of the keyboard has less impact (horizontal) than adding a scrollbar above or below the keyboard (vertical). No?

It was just attempt to see what it looked with that kind of slider.
:D

I'm Ok for the buttons, Jo!
