Adjusting for latency - T5

Hi

I'm having trouble with the latency adjustment on T5. I've been using T2 for years and when I used auto-detect with T2, it always gave the same result - somewhere around 24ms if I recall correctly. When I run auto-detect in T5 the numbers are all over the place. Sometimes a tiny negative value (what does that mean - the signal returned before it was sent?) sometimes something like 950ms, which exceeds the 500ms limit of the setting. When I do apply the setting and record another track it isn't always properly aligned. The PC is a few years old now, running windows 7. The audio interface is a Novation Xiosynth (also a few years old). Any ideas?

Thanks
Warren

when you use the same samplerate and buffersize as in t2, just take the value from there and type it in manually. this should do as workaround.

I'm still having trouble with adjusting for latency in T5. I tried using the same time adjustment that I used in T2, but I can't actually get T5 to run properly with the same sample rate and buffer size as I was using in T2. It seems to need a much bigger buffer. Apart from that it seems that the time adjust field does nothing at all. I tried manually setting to several different values and the new tracks still seem to get recorded with exactly the same offset. I'm wondering if there is there some way that the time adjust compensation has been disabled. Any clues?

I may have found the problem. I have just downloaded the latest ASIO driver for my Novation Xiosynth. Before I did that, Tracktion would not recognise the Novation as an ASIO device, so it was running as DirectSound. I will try again at the weekend to see if it all behaves itself now.

Everything seems to be behaving better now. Each of several auto-detect tests over the past couple of days has produced the same number and it seems to be correct.
