I currently have both T3 and T5 installed on my system. I'd love to transition to T5 exclusively...and even consider upgrading to T6...but a couple of lingering and especially frustrating bugs prevent me from doing so:
1) It appears that T5 version 3.9 was the last version to successfully recognize any VST settings from my T3 project mixes. When I updated past this version, any VSTs I applied to individual tracks returned to their defaults. (Strangely, "downgrading" back to 3.9 restored my mix settings...very weird.)
Does anyone know if this has been corrected in T6? I don't really want to lose all the work I did over the past five years, using T3 (15 albums worth!). The "sounds" I created for various vocal and instrumental tracks during earlier mixes frequently provide a starting point for new songs. After T5 version 3.9, this was no longer possible.
Help, anyone?
2) For some reason, T5 doesn't recognize the Line 2 input on my Fast Track Pro. This is true for even the latest version of T5. T3 has no problem with this. I start T3 and they're both accessible. I close T3, open T5, and *poof*, Line 2 is MIA. Close T5 and switch back immediately to T3, and it mysteriously appears, again. Very frustrating.
Again, any idea if this has been corrected in T6?
And, again, again...help?
If anyone has any suggestions, ideas or information, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks...
Jack N.

To your first question:
I´ve made a project with version 4.5.2 and the plugins which were problematic. Tracktion 5.4.2 failed with every plugin; Tracktion 6.0.15 made it all right.
So yes I think this bug is fixed.
But be carefully, If you save a project with Tracktion6 you can´t ever open it with an older Tracktion version, so keep backups of your original files.

Thanks, fortklang. Yeah, I've read about T6 no longer being "backward compatible". This makes it an even tougher decision, whether or not to upgrade. After relying on it for 15 albums, I'm hesitant to jettison T3. It's served me well.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Getting T6 doesn't mean losing T3. Keep T3 for revisiting your older recordings.Jack Nimersheim wrote:Thanks, fortklang. Yeah, I've read about T6 no longer being "backward compatible". [W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.
