I'm currently trying to set up Zebra 2 and ACE as instruments in a Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 project. Everything works properly except for automation of parameters from the host. I've tried everything I can think of, including using both native parameters and MIDI CC's. But, for some reason, the automation data does not seem to be recognized / used in either of the instruments.
I'm attempting this using 2 macs, one running VE Pro 5 and the VE Pro 5 Server, and the other running Logic Pro X 10.1 and the VE Pro Server Plugin.
Other plugin instruments work fine with automation (Spectrasonics Omnisphere, for instance), so it seems to be something localized to u-he plugins.
Has anyone else experienced this and/or know of any workarounds for passing through automation in a VE Pro 5 setup?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
Adam

have you tried the latest update of VEP5 just released... it appears to have fixed this for me. (well at least the parameters are now showing up, which I don't think they were before this release)

Thanks, thetechnobear. I am using the latest version of VEP5 Pro, so that doesn't seem to be it.
However, I did hear back from another colleague of mine that ran into the same problem. He suggested getting a copy of BlueCat Audio's Patchwork plugin, and hosting Zebra inside it on a VEP5 channel. Amazingly, this actually works! It makes the setup a bit more complex up front, but you can save the layout so make subsequent use a breeze.
So, it definitely seems like something between u-he plugs and VEP5 Pro automation. It would be nice if this was sorted out somehow, but at the same time, I'm glad I have the Patchwork plugin now, too... it offers a ton of flexibility and options.
