Beta 9.00b2 UI customization quirks?

First I want to say I Love the New installer, It has saved me So much time.

The below is not a show stopper for me but just some feedback for the future of V9. I am curious if others are seeing any of these quirks?

I am experiencing some UI customization issues with the b2 plugs.

- Cannot use the Style wizard as the 'Vintage' style is not available. Even if I choose one of the others available as soon as I select the style (1st pg.) the wizard closes instead of progressing through the remaining pages.

- Using the Style selection button I can choose 'Vintage' but I am have issues setting the colors and making them persist.

Sometimes I can select the color button and dismiss that screen with the Check mark button and the color will stay selected but other times it will not. I have tried to enter the color number in the hex entry screen and this rarely works.

When I did finally get the UI's setup the way I wanted them I had problems when opening more than one plug UI simultaneously in my host. (Sonar Platinum -Latest update) The first plugin UI was OK but the second plugin UI was just a solid color or white until I would click in the plugin to give it focus. Then everything is OK.

It was suggested for me to turn the GPU acceleration off and restart my host. That seems to solve the problem.

I am using a 3 month old StudioCat Pro PC running Win 7 64bit. I am using the VST3 versions of the plugs.

Hope this info is helpful.

Kind regards,
Rick

Hi Rick,

since disabling the GPU acceleration helps, that kind of explains it all - you must have some really old GPU (or without a correctly working driver). I'd try the "compatibility" mode in the GPU settings, that one requires much less features from the GPU, but it takes more CPU power.

About the Styles wizard - so you are saying that when you change the style, the wizard closes, correct? That means the host is malfunctioning, there are only a few of them left in the world with this bug - it basically means that whenever the plugin changes size, it starts changing focus between the windows etc. So you simply need to update the host, or just use another one the use the wizard. I quite frankly never heard of StudioCat - that's a host??

Sorry for the confusion,

The machine (PC) I'm using is a StudioCat Pro running Windows 7 64 bit, Very new with the most recent drivers. The only Host I have tried 9.00b2 plugs in is Cakewalks Sonar Platinum with the latest update.

The v8.1 plugs worked as expected with the above setup so I am guessing it is something in 9.00b2 or something I did during install. I did not uninstall the 8.1 stuff prior to installing the V9.00b2.

It's most likely the MeldaProduction Kernel Technology - it basically lets the plugins share lots of resources. The problem is probably some odd limitation in your GPU driver. Just out of curiosity - what computer do you have exactly?

Btw. does the style wizard work in Sonar?

Edit: The "studio cat" is the computer, not host??

The style wizard does not work as I remember in Sonar. If you make any selections, like style or size, it makes the change but immediately closes the style wizard instead of letting you continue to progress to the next screen in the wizard.

Also I do not see the 'Vintage' style in there, perhaps this just has not been added yet.

OK, the computer is as follows:
Studio Cat - Pro Studio DAW
- Case: Silent Mid Tower
- Power-Supply: 600w quiet
- Haswell CPU: 4790k @ 4.4GHz
- RAM: 16GB DDR3/1600
- OS drive: 250GB SSD
- Audio drive: 500GB SSD
- Sample drives: 500GB SSD x 3
- Burner: 24x DVD/RW
- Video: HD5450 1GB
- TI chipset Firewire
- Operating System: Windows 7 64 HP

Holy xxx! Such a powerful CPU and no GPU??? (HD doesn't count :) ). I still don't get why PC designers so often forget that GPU has lots of other functions...well...sad... Anyway I'd suggest updating the Intel HD drivers, it almost always helped from what I remember.

About Sonar - well, Sonar was always a little "specific", though I thought there things has been fixed. Which version are you using?

I am using Sonar Platinum, Cambridge 21.2.0.21 update. (Most recent)

I also just tried using the style wizard in Studio One v2.6.5 and the results are the same as Sonar.

once I make any selection the style wizard immediately closes. Not a big deal at this point.

But I do want to Thank You for the New installer as you have saved me a lot of time.

Kind regards,
Rick

Thank you Rick!
I'll check the Style wizard in these hosts.

Vojtech, there may be some confusion regarding his specs. His GPU is a Radeon HD 5450 with 1 GB VRAM (not integrated Intel HD Graphics) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814102882
Desktop: Win 7 Pro SP1 | i7 960 (4 cores 3.2 GHz) | 16 GB RAM | GTX470 | SSD boot plus 3x HDDs
Laptop: Win 8.1 | i7 4710HQ (4 cores 2.5 GHz)| 16 GB RAM | GTX850m | SSD boot plus one HDD

Ooooooh no! That's my old GPU, total piece of crap and ATI's drivers are just the most buggy things ever... :o Never again anything from ATI :D. I don't think updating drivers would help then... I don't get it, such a nice computer and such a sh*** GPU...
