Hi,
playing around with Bazille, I was wondering if it would be possible to get a sync input on its oscillatirs, This would do wonders with FM and PD capabilities!
cheers

... not to mention the ability to retrigger the oscillators when used as LFOs!
I think most of Bazille's modules would benefit trigger/gate inputs and outputs.
Envelopes - Trigger/gate inputs to start the envelope. Trigger outputs for end of attack and end of cycle.
Sequencer - Trigger input for clocking the sequencer. Trigger outputs for each step.
Quantizer - Trigger input to aquire new value (similar to S&H, quatizer only acts when trigger is received). Trigger output on new quantized value (when quantizer transitions from one value to the next a trigger is transmitted).
I'd also like dedicated trigger inputs/outputs for the LFOs and Ramps.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I do a lot of self-generating patches in Bazille and I'm always trying to come up with new ways of triggering events without sending notes.

This would make Bazille into such a fun noise box.

How do you make self-generating patches in Bazille? I haven't figured how to make sound without pressing a key.justin3am wrote:... I do a lot of self-generating patches in Bazille

I'm sorry, that wasn't very clear. You always have to hold a note.plusch wrote:How do you make self-generating patches in Bazille? I haven't figured how to make sound without pressing a key.justin3am wrote:... I do a lot of self-generating patches in Bazille

I meant patches in which you are just using a note to open the final VCA, letting the modulators interact with each other to create dynamic sounds.

Justin, your list is also part of my wishlist, so thanks for hijacking the thread! I often stumble on stuff I find no solution for because of the lack of triggers.
Also, it would be cool if we could get a serge-like wavefolder, on top of the rectifier, ideally with a switch to select either a clipper mode or a serge-like folding mode.

Wavefolding is the way of the future.
The way of the future.
THE WAY OF THE FUTURE!

The way.. of the future.

I think both the original sync request and the trigger request are awesome (especially as someone who currently has a eurorack system that I'm hoping I can do without in the near future due to monetary concerns) though I could see audio rate oscillator sync adding a ton of aliasing with the way bazille's oscs are set up, so that particular feature could be better suited to ACE XL or whatever the name of the "analog" equivalent to bazille will be.

Here are some other features that I would find really useful in Bazille:
- the ability to select where the oscilloscope is in the signal path. Right now it filters out DC components, and I find this a bit annoying, especillay from an instructional point of view when I am learning new synthesis tricks.
- the addition of CV1 and CV2 in the modulation menu list for OUT1 and OUT2. Thus we could choose to have a control signal that would be processed before control the level of the output VCA. I understand that this might double with the ability to control the volume of each oscillator.
Thanks!
Cheers

Big + 1 on the wavefolder.
I have held off buying Bazille so far but would totally buy it if it had a wavefolder.

I agree on letting the oscilliscope monitor CVs or anything not at the very end of the signal chain.
As for the wavefolder, I think the phase distortion kinda covers that ground imo... I'd rather see wavefolding as part of a west coast buchla-esque piece of berlin modular (IMO berlin modular needs 3 synths to be a full bundle - an east coasty/rolandy/ARP2600 synth that would basically be ACE XL with some diva stuff thrown in, a west coasty "experimental analog" type thing that would be a hybrid of a buchla/surge/weird early tube osc type experiments, and an unabashedly digital modular. For me bazille is the digital one and wavefolding belongs on the "experimental analog" one)

You do not get the same kind of waveforms out of Phase Distortion compared to a wavefolder. To me, a wavefolder would open some new territories to Bazille, as it would allow to work on sinewaves in ways that the current set-up does not allow. Phase Distortion does a lot, that is true. I just do not want to wait for ACE XL/Berlin Modular/whatever its name to make these suggestions, as it does not seem to be even close to a beta-test (do not know for an alpha-test...).
