Feature Request - EQ - Bypass Lo/Hi Filters

The vertical filters that can be used in the melda EQ's like MDynamicEQ by dragging the red bar on the left and right sides of the spectrum graph cannot be bypassed. I use them a lot to cut out low frequency noise but unfortunately there's no way to bypass them, you can only drag them all the way to the left/right... but of course that means you lose their setting. I've been working around this by copy/pasting the settings into the A-H settings and A/B'ing with and without the filter.

Can I suggest right clicking or double clicking the red bars bypasses the filter?

Also, can I put in a request for additional filters? 3dB and 18dB would be awesome :)

It wouldn't hurt to have them added to the 'Bands' window too, just for more clarity.

Thank you!

Yes!

And also part of the mix control as well - or is that not possible?

Well, I originally denied it for several reasons, but sometimes this makes a point. But I'm more like thinking about an "off" filter. Right click sounds reasonable too, we'll see.

About the additional filters - I'm afraid I'm going to deny this one, way too complex to add it to current engine and keep the backward compatibility.

Mads: I'm afraid dry/wet cannot be done for LP/HP/BP/notch filters because of the phase shift. Try using shelves instead.

Thanks!

No worries about the additional filters, I can understand backward compatibility could complicate things. I love the flexibility of your plug-ins, I tend to push them to extremes (e.g. MMultibandLimiter is my favorite distortion effect) so if you are faced with adding more options earlier on in development please do as I'll only bug you later to add them and you'll deny them for backward compatibility reasons :)

I'm guessing compatibility is the reason you dont want to add 6dB crossovers to the multiband effects too... the crossovers have such a massive effect on the sound that I'd love this, but I understand if it's a nightmare for you!

Thanks again.

Does this apply to MBandPass too? It has a Dry/Wet control, so now I'm confused.

Good additional question - as I like to do very sharp bandpass filters on some material and then mix some original sound in (creative work). Apart from this Vojtech, I wondered about phase issues myself.

vectorwarrior: I'm adding as many features as possible, you know that! :D Sometimes I think it is a little too much :D

MBandPass: No, dry/wet works there, but it is a true dry/wet, which means there ARE phase shifting problems. For a creative effect like MBandPass it is ok, but with an equalizer it just doesn't do that it is supposed to do, so in equalizers the dry/wet is simulated by adjusting the actual filter parameters, which cannot be done with LP/HP/BP.

Thanks for clarifying. This makes sense to me now.

For what you want to do, you can use MBandPass if the phase interference sounds okay to you. If you want to avoid phase interference while adjusting dry/wet mix, you need to use a linear-phase filter. Some linear-phase solutions are described here:
