Then why not try the mini-spectrum graph?
Then you can see what's going on. You can then set the initial positions for the band splits and fine tune them and the levels with your ears. Of course, the spectrum display is an option and can be turned off (or, as at present the panel can be collapsed).
(Caveat: All this needs is for Vojtech to implement it, if it is a good idea
)
