... while googling for "u-he melting GUI". Some funny threads popped up, either from warez forums, or discussions from KVR. Good read for the most part of it. And kudos to you Urs (if you read this) for corresponding directly with warez users, not only do i think it's the wrong way to condemn those, but also by keeping the copy protection mechanisms fair to the user, you create a sort of "I feel ashamed for doing this" feeling for some warez users (of course not all of them, those who don't care and have gigs of warez on their external harddrive will hardly care about any of this). Anyway, no matter what copy protection or business conduct, what those people do is unjust anyway, but i feel like in such a small business as the audio app business, the way companies choose to protect their software seems a bit rigid, and i believe if more of those companies would play an "open hand", there wouldn't be such a need for such restrictive protections. Maybe that's a bit naive and won't hold true for every business, but i believe that in a better understanding about why people warez, and who those people are, there could be a valid solution for at least 50% of the warez users.

The melting GUI reminds me of this clever little easter egg added to a video game for the pirates:

That's a tough one. I lost contact with George and learned a few years ago that he had died.
