I tried with my releases different things.. limited preview versions (fades, shortened) of a song and a full (quality limited) version.

Think more as a customer not as a producer/musician... if you listen to music somewhere on a website/social media platform etc. Assumed there is a song/album you really like but where you never heard something about the artist, would you buy a song because of a preview version? If there is a full version of a song, would you not buy it because you don't need a local copy and it's enough to have the quality limited version?

What would for you push the interest to buy a song? A preview version where you have the interest to hear the full song or a quality limited version where you have the interest to have a high quality version?

I would say a good quality but limited version is the best option. Personally I bought Music from Beat Port based on Music news clips I found in youtube. Those Music news clips were just Cuts of tracks and presented in a mix consisting of many tracks. Those Cuts were sort of teasers and I am sure the editors pick and choose the best parts of the tracks. All Music I bought was by (for me) unknown artists. If the track is good it does not matter who made it.

Yes, this preview versions could be the better option.

I saw lately some guys (Infected Mushroom) who uploaded the complete album as full versions to Soundcloud but they achieved many sales on Beatport (Afaik #1). So a full version seems not to stop people to buy a track. But... this guy's having a large fanbase and are well known (this could make the difference).

I'm not sure if a full version could stop people to buy a track.

Anjunadeep and some others they take maybe 20 - 40 seconds of a track and put it in a mix with other cuts from other tracks. In that way you don't have to upload the whole track. Its just a teaser for the potential buyers. Take cuts from all your tracks and make a mix out of it. At least that's what I would do.

Some artists will only have a couple of tracks available for full streaming from their new album. Usually, it's the singles. For me it's the best way to be hooked on wanting more.
