Sonic Core Scope platform (XITE-1). Significantly better than native plug ins?

Sonic Core SCOPE XITE-1 was based on the old Creamware sound cards circa 98? And it runs on SHARC Processors? Aren't sharc processors like ram/rom sparc type all in one processor, ram like harddrive systems that can lose all memory if there isn't a constant supply of battery present?

This would be a kin to my old old keyboard workstations and digitech RP10 pedal board

sharc chips are also used in UAD accelerator card
Its a old tech but it is reliable and is most powerful chip for audio processing

And no sharc are not rom nor ram
They are simple processers like the cpu in your pc ony diffrence is that it is good at processing particular type of data rather than being good in all type of data

That was UAD-1 which IIRC was based on a chip that was used primarily for video encoding/decoding. For UAD-2, they ported everything over to SHARC.

I was a big Scope user and fan (15+ DSP system) in late 90's and early 2000's, so I'm happy to see they've hung on this long. I wouldn't have ever guessed that and the platform looked like it was heading for death, so I sold off while I could still recoup. Scope was fantastic at the time and nothing native came close in terms of sound quality for synths, not to mention it was offloaded. Only thing "better" (debatable how you used it, but not necessarily in sound quality) was hardware VA's (e.g. Virus, Nord, SuperNova) and analog synths. That said, it was always buggy, quirky and you just learned how deal with it and the workarounds. I wonder if it's still limited to 44.1?

I personally wouldn't buy into the platform today, it doesn't fit my needs and quality wise native has caught up if not surpassed it. I'm not against DSP, I own a UAD Apollo Twin, but I only bought/use the plugins that are uniquely UAD (and it's a great interface). For me, DSP for computer based systems isn't nearly as relevant as it was 15+ years ago. If DSP evolves and leap frogs native again, I'd jump back on board, but I don't anticipate that happening. My use isn't everyone's, so it's probably still a good fit for someone, so glad to see the platform live on.

I bought mine in 2000 and I don't recall ever being limited to 44.1. In any case it's not.

And to clear things up, XITE-1 uses six older Sharc DSPs for backward conpatibility and twelve newer Sharc ADSP21369 DSPs.

I also got my Pulsar back then and dont remember any sample rate issue.

At start i was kinda intrigued with the modular 4 and some other classic synth
Because in the name of hardware synth I have only a old casino synth with single oscillator

It's quite a unique system and isn't for everyone. For me the routing abilities are as important as the synths, effects etc. Your priorities might be different.

If you've never used Scope at all then I'd probably try a second-hand 6 or 15 DSP card, invest in Scope 7 and try that out. That way you could find if you like the sound, the routing window etc. before investing in an XITE system and then finding out you don't like it.

K - I don't remember exactly now, it's been 15 years, but I recall something about 44.1 and being limited to that for <insert whatever> reason. Maybe it was just my setup... dunno, but doesn't matter now though.
