Hi,
2 things, the installer actually crashed when I was trying to select a different drive for the system info install (all the presets etc). I was in the interface with the directory structure and tried to click on a different drive, then it hung and crashed.
2nd, the areas to select a different directory for the vst plugins were greyed out..? Not sure if this is actually a bug or as intended.

Hi,
I just checked and drive selection works on both Windows and OSX, which OS do you have? Can you send me the "greyed out": screenshot? I'm a little lost in what you mean.

Didn't you disable VST plugin installation?

Yes, they are different. The greyed-out directories in your screenshot are for the VST (that is VST2) plug-ins.
VST3 plug-ins have to go in (a sub-folder in) a fixed folder - that's the rules, set by Steinberg.
I think it will be (on Windows) C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\MeldaProduction

I don't like it either, but what problems is it causing you?

One more reason to stick on VST2.dirtrobot wrote:My C drive is my OS drive on an SSD and thus is very limited in capacity, I prefer having all of my vst's and data on a drive of my choosing.

Not quite.
For these plug-ins, most of the space is taken up by the Kernel dll file and that cannot be moved (it's on the c:\ drive). So even if the VST2 or VST3 plug-ins were moved to another disk the Kernel dll would remain.

Use junction points, then you can move it somewhere else.

You are right, i forgot that our beloved Vojtech is special with his Kernel dll technology. If it's for the benefit of less CPU and faster fixing of problems i wouldn't complain.DarkStar wrote:Not quite.
