Hi,
Set up:
Create a MuX patch from the basic effect
Drop into Modular view for the patch, replace the mixer strip with an amplifier module
Set up a meta parameter to the amplifier Pad parameter
Edit the front panel, remove the Gain component, add a parameter component for the amplifier Pad
Toggle editing
Test:
Use the dial to adjust the Pad value. It steps in 1dB amounts
Expected result: amplifier Pad parameter value should equal the Pad parameter value
Actual result: amplifier Pad parameter rounds to the nearest multiple of 6dB
I'm looking for a simple way to dial in pad amount in 1dB multiples. Should I just use the Mixer Strip? I'd really like to be able to go from 0dB to +18dB and Mixer Strip only goes to +6dB.
I'd use the Audio Limiter but for two things: input pad only goes to +12dB -- I'd like +18dB -- and the slope is given as a percentage, which I don't find easy to understand (I guess 50% is the same as 2:1, so +2dB above the threshold level gives +1dB on output, approximately...). The display isn't that easy to understand, either.

Indeed the display of the pad meta-parameter on the front panel is not fully right, it should also go in 6 dB steps. Fixed in M7. Thx for reporting.pljones wrote:Hi,

I don't see such way to go in exact 1 dB steps. What you could do is use an amplifier, set the pad to +18 dB and use the gain parameter, that will give you a range from -oo dB to +18 dB. Then setup a meta-parameter to that gain parameter so to set the lower limit to 0 dB. Then you have a 0 dB to + 18 dB range, a continuous range though.I'm looking for a simple way to dial in pad amount in 1dB multiples. Should I just use the Mixer Strip? Pad at +18dB
Gain still reads -oo dB to 0 dB maximum.
Using a meta-parameter lets you limit the range but still shows -17.99 to 0 dB, rather than 0 to +18 dB, so it gets the effect but isn't ideal in terms of quickly understanding what's happening.
