So, is anyone actually using N-track these days?

They will release version 8 today.
One very cool thing they did is to allow for Pure Data patches to load as Vst's!
Also integration with Songtree to be able to collaborate with other musicians.
Have not tried it though... but have been curious. Especially if tbey integrate Pure Data into the Android version.
As you could import/export projects inbetween platforms and Pure Data fascinates me and there is so much patches that have been made already.

I was gonna ask about N-track as well. I never used it. The Pure Data & Sequencer tracks are of high interest to me.
How does the Pure Data work? is that just a generic view of a plugin with basic elements?

Gave demo a go last nigh, after few minutes it was trashed from my system, so unintuitive... and that meters.

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

I try it every new version because it has so much potential to be a great product for beginners...Zexila wrote:Gave demo a go last nigh, after few minutes it was trashed from my system, so unintuitive... and that meters.
It seems to become worse with every version.

They should release v8 as a freebie to spread the word and user base a little, than try to convince people to update to 9.

Not possible, I bought a version over a decade ago that crashed constantlyRobert Randolph wrote:I try it every new version because it has so much potential to be a great product for beginners...Zexila wrote:Gave demo a go last nigh, after few minutes it was trashed from my system, so unintuitive... and that meters.

I will always remember N-Track as the most unstable software I ever used of any type. Had version 2 or so. It was amazing for the variety of ways it crashed. Never seen anything like it, before or since.
I'm sure it's better now, but no way am I installing even a demo of it on my computer.

I had version 2 and 3. 2 was terrible. 3.3 was pretty stable... it has become worse with every iteration.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Not possible, I bought a version over a decade ago that crashed constantlyRobert Randolph wrote:I try it every new version because it has so much potential to be a great product for beginners...Zexila wrote:Gave demo a go last nigh, after few minutes it was trashed from my system, so unintuitive... and that meters.

It is pretty feature packed now, but you cant get to the fealtures without a crash

I wouldn't judge it too harshly.
At the end of the day whoever did it created something that (I suppose) is useful for someone somewhere so... more power to him (or her if that's the case). Creating a DAW is no small thing, and far beyond my skill set so... props.
I'll probably demo the thing after reading this thread just to see what it looks like.

Any news on how's that going? I'll probably end up demoing it pretty soon too, but I'm trying to decide between this or Zynwave
