Patchwork plugin settings and multiple computers

Let's say I have two computers with identical versions of Pro Tools, plugins, and BC Patchwork.

If I load a Patchwork on an insert in PT on one of the computers then load a VST inside that, by default those settings are not saved together with the session files. Which means that if I then transfer that entire session folder to the second computer and open it, the Patchwork insert will be in the correct place but it will be empty with a "Plugin Missing" message or something to that effect.

If I go to the Preset menu in a Patchwork instance, I can save the current settings to a file. And I see that there is an option under "Preset > Setting Preferences > Save plug-in Settings To" which allows me to choose whether to save the settings to the Session Folder (it creates a new folder within the session folder to hold the plugin data, I believe).

But saving the plugin data this way is done on a per-plugin basis, which means that the process would have to be repeated for every single instance of Patchwork in the session. Each Patchwork insert must be individually saved under a unique name, presumably using some sort of numbering system that would allow them to be loaded in the correct sequence on the correct tracks in the session on the second computer.

This would be an incredibly tedious process when dealing with dozens of sessions that each contain upwards of 30-40 Patchwork inserts. I am wondering if there isn't an easier way to go about it.

When I open up the session on the first computer, all of the instances of Patchwork have the plugins and settings that they did when I last saved the session, which means that the plugin data is saved somewhere on the first computer. The question is where, and how can I copy it all at once to the second computer? Since the second computer is essentially a clone of the first one, in theory this could all be solved with a simple copy operation...at least I'm really hoping so, because the alternative will take quite a bit of time and cause significant slowdown in my workflow.

Hi,

it looks like your issue here is that the plug-ins that you used in your session on your other computer are not installed on the new computer. PatchWork stores the settings of all plug-ins in the session - no need to use presets for that. However it requires the plug-ins to be installed in the same place as on the other computer, so that they can be restored from the session.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I originally thought that was the case but since they all show up as missing I figured my assumption was wrong. But it's good to hear that it should be working that way!

When you say "it requires the plug-ins to be installed in the same place as on the other computer," what do you mean exactly? The BC Patchwork install has to have the same directory path on both computers?

Both computers do have Patchwork installed correctly, as evidenced by the fact that they can both instantiate the plugin inside Pro Tools.

Edit: Nevermind, I think I just realized what you mean. The plugins INSIDE Patchwork have to have the same directory path--otherwise Patchwork doesn't know how to find them...how obvious now that you say it! Thanks again for the help :)
