We are happy to release today a massive update for 16 of our plug-ins: Blue Cat's Plug'n Script, Dynamics, Patchwork, FreqAnalyst Multi, MB-7 Mixer,Protector, StereoScope Multi, Liny EQ, DP Meter Pro, Oscilloscope Multi, and our 6 free plug-ins are now available in VST3 format.

So, what's new here? Don't miss our blog post explaining the benefits of VST3. Also, this update includes additional improvements for all plug-in formats regarding presets and skins management, and compatibility enhancements for plug-in hosting. So it is recommended for all customers!

By the way, this update is free and can be downloaded from the same location as the original full version, using the link received upon purchase. Of course, free plug-ins remain fully free!

Tried patchwork demo in latest Ableton Live 9.6 (in hope that i'll finally be able to load vst3 plugins in Ableton via patchwork)

Instant crash. I can't load any version. FX or Synth all doing same thing. Crashing Live 9.6. upon loading.

I have at least 50 plugins from 10 different vendors. Not any other plugin is crashing my Live so i'll assume this is some sort of bug?

Have you tried the VST or VST3 version of the plug-in? By the Way PatchWork does not have VST3 hosting yet.

Ok did not know that (about not being able to host vst3) but anyway - i am 100% sure i tried VST x64 version on x64 ableton - not vst3 version.

After further testing it seems that our plug-ins that have a side chain input are indeed causing a crash when inserted while the project is playing (could not reproduce the crash otherwise) - all others are fine.

Crash reports have been sent to Ableton as the crash occurs in their application, outside of any call to the plug-in. Do you mind sending yours too to help find the problem?

By the way, in case you are running a Mac, you could use the Audio Unit version, which seems to run fine.

I think we have found a way to fix the problem - a simple change that only Live seems to dislike, and we missed it. We will upload new binaries as soon as possible and will let you know.

@kmonkey: New versions have been uploaded for the four plug-ins that were impacted (Dynamics, Plug'n Script , PatchWork and MB-7 Mixer).

This only affects the VST format in Ableton Live. The VST version number has been postfixed with 'a' to make the difference. Please tell us if it fixes the problem for you too - it has been validated for us on both windows and Mac.

I can confirm that it's working now - thanks :)

Hey there!
Firstly I want to thank you for finally supporting vst3 hosting! And it seems you nailed it. Hosted VST3 Plugins are keeping there settings and are indeed working as expected (except for rotary knobs not being in Linear mode). DDMF Metaplug did not get VST3 plugin hosting to work properly since forever. Now, the wait is over :-)

One thing though:
The presets, that are created with the vst2 version of Patchwork also show up in the vst3 version. This is a good thing BUT they all show "plugin missing" message, if hosted plugins are not ALSO available as vst3 format. Information about the vst format of hosted plugins is not being saved with Presets that were created in Patchwork VST2.

kind regards

Thanks! Glad that it works well for you :-). Could you give more details about the issue with knobs and linear mode?

About the vst2 loading problem, have you double checked the vst plug-ins path in the preferences (spanner icon at the top of the plug-in)? Each version of the plug-in (VST, AAX, RTAS, VST3, DX, AU, standalone) stores its own settings separately, so I would not be surprised that the path is different for your VST3 version. Since we do not do any substitution between VST2 and VST3 formats, I don't see any other reason for the problem.

Thank you very much, the plugin path setting did the trick!

Here is in picture, what I mean with the linear knob mode.

Cubase's preference setting for knob mode of plugins does not seem to work inside hosted plugins.
But no biggie at all, just mildly annoying.

best regards
