Hi,
it seems I can only create a marker with a given, short length.
Can I somehow set a marker between my mark in and mark out points... having exactly that length?
Or do I have to do this by mouse/dragging the marker length accordingly.
Any macros for that available?

Markers have arrows for extending them. You may need to zoom in to see them. Alternatively, if you highlight a marker one, you can see its Start and End points and Length in the Properties Panel, where you can adjust them. You can also change its colour and make various selections of clips based on the Marker position.
There doesn't appear to be a way to set markers with macros.

The way you describe is known to me and involves some mousework after having created a marker.
I want to get rid of the mouse as much as I can.
It would be nice to select an object, hit' put In and Out marker around it (that shortcut exists already) and now hit the missing shortcut ' create marker between In and Out points' .

Thanks, there's an option available from the Edit tab "Options" button in the bottom left called "Make new clips the size of the marked region". New clips dragged from the new clip icon will then fit inside the markers.
However, this doesn't apply to new marker clips. I may change this behaviour though as it would be useful.

Yes, it would be nice to have to have markers (optionally?) behave the same way.

Just another thought:
many times a marker should be just that and not a range indicator: therefore it would probably make a visual mess when every marker created looks at the In Out marker setting. Markers will be overlapping as a result.
So, something enable to quickly set either a mark as a short indicator or the with the length of the In Out mark points would be nice
in addition: a macro or shortcut to impose the length of the in out markers on selected marker?
