I'm using a Tracktion FX8 2x2 mixer into an HP Windows laptop(via USB) to record audio.
With NO input audio signals going, I can run my time adjust ("RUN TEST") with no problem( I hear a crackling noise for a couple of seconds) and I'm given a delay time.
But at other times, even with everything hooked up (I've even tried to run the test with signals going in or playing recorded tracks), I get a "No signal detected" message.
I've noticed there's definitely a delay between my overdubbed clips when I can't run this test.
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Try to play with the volume of your inputs and the output of your device you have to find the middle. If its to loud or to low it won't detect a signal. I had the same problem with my behringer usb mixer it seem to get louder than a lot of my other usb interface it also had a lot of floor noise. So it made it hard to find the sweet spot.
