Q Stepped values in Multiparameters?

If I want to create a Multiparameter with a range of 2 to 32 in steps of 1 (or 2 or ...), how can I do it?

This came to light when investigating Voices in MUnison. What is the difference between, for example, 4.25 voices and 4.27? Shouldn't they be an integer number?

You can do this easily by using the steps function in the transfer shape.

I tried that but could not set the regular steps I wanted.

*Must try harder*

I'm not at a computer, but I believe you can do this with banks. There is an integer button or something, it stops you from interpolating between the banks. You'll have to make a bank for each integer though!

Yes, you can, but life's too short to set up 30 banks (even if that many is possible) ;)

Anyway I tried it with this TS:

But still could not get the integer step changes that I want (for an MP with a range of 10)

PS I have not found a way to get that sort of regular Step in the TS Editor, so I exported a preset, edited it in Notepad and Imported it ! ("Distribute points" distributes only on the X-axis)

In the TS Editor, right click and select steps mode. Than you can drag the little circle between two points and choose your desired number of steps. It just takes a second. I'm not at my PC so I cannot give you screenshots at the moment.

Found it, thank you. (And I had checked the Info pages, honest)

I would use banks personally.
You can have up to 32 banks. Remember to deselect interpolate values, then apply to all parameters.
Also 1.5 voices is 1 voice at full volume and one at half volume.

But why would you manually set up 32 banks while you can use a step function transfer shape with just a few clicks?

Post

Because you can name the banks with numbers that will move with the steps. So it would jump from 1 - 2 - 3 etc.
With the other method the MP would display 1.1 - 1.2 - 1.3 even though the voices are stepped, so wouldn't be a true display value.

^^
But if the number of steps is in sync with the desired number of values then the display value should be an integer too. 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 etc.

As I mentioned above I cannot get that to work - when I drag the MP control the voices change by 0.01 at a time)

OK, I was wrong about the display value.
However another reason to use banks is that it will always work for any control.
The steps in transfer shape will only work in linier parameters. Voices in unison is nonlinier, so the steps will not line up correctly.

... which brings me back neatly to one of my original questions
