Receptor TRIO MIDI Glitches

I ran into quite a strange issue at a previous show.

During line check, MIDI note messages were delayed playing back from the receptor, note on/off messages were inverted at times as in key press was silent then the release triggered the note. Again during the show, some notes were producing pitches in different octaves but thankfully that only happened the once.

Any idea's on what might be happening? Signal chain below.

AKAI MPK61 > MIDI Solutions T8 > Receptor & Voicelive RACK.

Thanks

What happens going straight from the MPK61 to the Receptor?

Haven't been near the equipment since so haven't had a chance to test. Voicelive was acting correctly throughout the show though so it wouldn't seem the thru was causing any negative effect. Will test when I see the rig of course.

Understood. Just suggesting minimizing number of moving parts. Of course, if it's fine direct from the Akai, and then you reintroduce the T8 and CANNOT reproduce the problem... ouch. Intermittent problems are a nightmare.

Did you try different cables and/or different jacks on the T8?

It's weird that certain settings can get turned around. I ran into this issue once when I programmed things, forgot after not playing for a while, and came back wondering why the note on/off was reversed.

It wasn't actually the note signal reversed but in channel midi settings the velocity had been turned down which had the affect of turning your attack up. Hell, it could be that your attack settings were changed. Usually attack fades in though. Check the channel's velocity settings. In there you can look at offset values which would change your pitch.

It is even POSSIBLE that there are some hidden MIDI messages being sent by your hardware which change some settings. This happens to me a lot because I don't use ANY Preset templates from any of my controller manufacturers.
