...just how does one use the "wav" button to get the stats on selected files with MLoudnessAnalyzer? Is there an extra secret log file somewhere?... :scared: ...did I miss a memo? ...tia.../s~

My understanding is the 'wav' button in all melda plugins is for batch processing files. Given that the loudness analyser doesn't actually process the files in any way (i.e. the output is the same as the input) I dont think it does anything... maybe? You could ask for a FR for a text log output with the names and total loudness values of the files... but really that task is better suited to a waveform editor like soundforge or audition. Audition has a pretty solid amplitude statistics window.

Post

Hey VW!, sorta what I thought, so I'll post an FR: in a bit.It would be great if the plug would/could save stats into a *.log for quick comparison. I've used soundforge and audition in the past and I'm not interested in anything else they have to offer anymore; and I don't believe either of them posts to "logs" anyway...thnx for the time.../s~

Yeah, I guess you're looking for something like this:

I know a few people that use it and are really happy but it aint cheap. Gap in the market!

Post

...thnx for the link, I almost always take the trial just to see what's cookin', but since starting with melda awhile back, I haven't purchased any of them...which sorta took all the fun outta all those "weekend, never gonna happen again" offers...oh, well...and ya, a batch, off line analyzer would be very hand just about now... .../s~

That Nugen thing is funny, almost 1000 EUR? :D :D Holy crap... They always make me laugh :D
Anyways the WAV button there lets you calculate the integrated loudness for example.

...not sure I follow...when I drop a file on it "wav" nothing seems to happen with osx/logic...I'll give a whirl over on win10/reaper....?.../s~

...here is an example of the batch analysis i'm talking about...it would be great if MLA could dump out all of its stats in the same sort of manner...my current project has 23/27 compositions and runs about 80 minutes, soooooo, having a quick "bird's eye" look at all the stats would be great.../s~

Actually I would find that useful in game audio too. I typically work with thousands of assets and they are assessed for loudness on import into the game engine, then all normalised to -23lufs. It would be nice to get an analysis of a 'family' of assets in a folder, say, all weapon sounds, to see if there are any outliers that are going to be heavily ducked. The dynamic range within an asset can have a huge impact on the loudness value, so sometimes similar sounding assets can have very different values.

Sorry, wild tangent.

Post

...hey VW!, no tangent at all, that's exactly what I am talking about!...for instance, I would like to be able to analyze several albums in one go, quick like a rabbit, etc...MLA has the analyzer up and running already, nothing to add to add there, it's just getting all of the "number" out efficiently...:phones:...if you can, try the link posted up above, works real good for what it can do.../s~

Looks good, thank you! Unfortunately I got a virus warning with one of the downloads. Maybe I'll try again later when it's not Saturday and I have more patience :)
