FR:right-click on a audio clip/sample should have a mute function

would be nice if the right click on a audio clip/sample had a mute function,so you didnt had to move things around all the time if you wanted to try out new things

If you select the clip you can mute it in the properties panel.

We know but it should be a selection on the clip like the effect list or its own icon with out moving my mouse from the clip. It should be anything that can speed up work flow first priority and should be nothing to write mute in the code of the effects list on the clips.

OK but with the right click (OP) , effect add (Mr LIO), shortcut (does this [shift+_] work?) and current (two clicks needed) mute in properties, that would be for ways to achieve the same thing.
Just for luck I think muting could warrant an Icon of its own nest to the FX.

I like the simplicity of Tracktion, and menu bloat could be the biggest workflow killer for me. Customized macros should cater for those who want to do things differently without giving Bill a meltdown trying to write the manual.

OK course I fully support your right to make feature requests.
My request is however... Don't bloat my UI with multiple ways of doing the same thing until I can't find anything.

I believe the original concept of T was select something and all actions were accessible from the context sensitive properties panel.
As features have been added we have overflowed into dropdowns and popups. I still think its amazing what we can do on one screen though.

W/O turning this into one of those threads/ideas that where people go back and fourth and start telling people to use "other" hosts that do things, this brings to the forefront a rather glaring omission from tracktion (considering how feature rich it is) There should be a tool for these kinds of things. Mute, razor (split in this case) range, arrow, scrub, quantize (all tracks or at least all midi tracks) etc. A "silence" tool would be nice too for audio tracks. A pencil tool would make minds BLOWN!

Yeah, Tracktion's core 'mindset' for operations seems to be key-driven, where it could be equally mouse-driven. Ive said before that far more operations should be available from mouse operations, right-click context menus or icons, including common tools, and macro scripts.
Unfortunately, I suspect that if it were going to happen, it would have already happened.

We're not actually against adding things to right click menus, it's just that it's not simple to do currently. We've got some ideas to make this a lot easier in the future so are waiting until that point to add right click functions.

However, as many people have pointed out, Tracktion's primary workflow is that you select objects, then all the operations that can be performed on them and their properties are displayed in the Properties Panel. This makes it incredibly easy for new users to navigate and learn as nothing is 'hidden' under lots of sub menus.

For users in the know though, we understand pop-up menus can be quicker to use (along with keyboard shortcuts which we're also looking to improve).

There's a keyboard shortcut to do this which defaults to "shift + _"

Have you checked that it is assigned to that in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" Settings page?

The shortcut is assigned.
The _ (underscore) is of course only available in upper case (UK) so is this the problem?

Ah yes, that will probably be it (strange that it works on the Mac actually).
Presumably if you try to re-assign that combo it will register as "shift + -"?
