Has this been discussed? The CPU goes up about 4% when previewing here. Is that normal?

That's not that unusual. When previewing files they are time-stretched on the fly, not rendered to wav file proxies like those in an Edit so will obviously use more CPU. This isn't usually a problem though as the increases are only during preview playback.
