I'm not a preset guy. It's the same as playing samples, but I've been trying to make better use of hive. Michael Cavallo, you absolutely killed it with the presets in hive whoever you are. Just giving credit where credit is due.

This guy oughta do more presets. :phones:

oh man, you are so right, I realized that all the presets that I had set as Favorites, 2 out of 3 were his.
his sounds are huge and emotive, very rich, and deconstructing them is such a learning experience.
But then a strange fear gripped me
and I just couldn't ask....

Instead of trying to make hive sound like something else and getting overly complicated with it he sat down and listened to what hive was. He brought the heart of the instrument forward. He made hive sound like hive. There is a lot of fillers where he created a preset and then just tweaked it a little this way or that and called it something else, but the base presets are the sound of hive. They have too much reverb but that's the nature of the beast, you won't find hive presets that aren't drenched in full reverb, but the truth is that the reverb is perfectly matched to hive and what hive is, so just dial back the reverb a little and his presets are so much fun to play. I sat down and diddled around on the keyboard for hours, and hours the other night just playing hive Cavallo presets. After a couple of hours (and a few beers) I had to come on here and give him a high five :).
