MCompare problems with Reaper

Hi!

Case 1 - reference track:

I finally managed to load a file into the slot after I found out that the "particular file button" mentioned in the documentation is the magnifying glass next to the UI element looking like an input field. I even found out that to create a section to loop you may drag the edges of the (initially completely) highlighted area of the wave form.

But where I failed was to set the playback cursor. A red bar appeared and is moving when I start playback in Reaper and stops when I stop playback, but I cannot set it manually. The manual says I have to double click. But that doesn't work for me.

Case 3 - synced rendered project:

Whatever I do the red playback cursor is never in sync with the host. In my WAV the songs starts right at the beginning, but in my project the audio starts at about 0:37.0 (37 secs). When I press play MCompare sets its own cursor way off (more than a minute). I tried the detect button, but I couldn't figure out where Reapers cursor is supposed to be to make the detection work.

Furthermore the synced rewind doesn't work. I can press the rewind button in Reaper as much as I like the red cursor won't move.

Please give me advice if I misunderstood how MCompare is supposed to work.

You could use the original "Magic AB" from Samplemagic. Works like a charme, even inside Reaper 8)

Case A: you are in sync mode? Then you can't set the playback bar manually.

I'm also using reaper and everything works fine.

It's more flexible than magicab. I'd only like to know the slope steepness of the filters. To be more flexible it would be nice to change them.

No, I'm not. I also tried double-click with the right mouse button and using shit, alt and ctrl. No diffrence. Though holding alt turns the arrow icon into a crosshair.

But I found out how I can set the red cursor: I have to disable "follow" which is enabled by default.

And the "follow" mode is also the key to succes for "case 3":

Before syncing and using "detect" you have to disable "follow". Once the plugin is synced you can re-enable "follow". This should IMHO be mentioned in the manual.

As small bug is IMO that while rewind now actually works the cursor will not be set when I press "rewind", but only after I press "play". I found this confusing.

Another important fact that's missing is the reference point for the start value. It is as I have found out relative to the project start time.

Remeber, my project starts with silence of eg 37 secs which are ommited in the rendered WAV. So I ended up with to possible setups:

Setup a)

Set a value of -37 secs.

[Bug: in the value popup I may enter -37 but not -0:37. As it seems the input field accepts only values in seconds not formatted time strings.]

Setup b)

Set the project start time in Reaper to 0:37 and leave the start time at 0:0.

Perhaps I'm just dumb, but a few more clues in the manual would have helped me and spared me a few frustrating hours.

Probably. But I just puchased MCompare so naturally I want to get it up and running. I'm happy that I've succeeded.
