Assigning external control to modulator frequency

I've been trying to figure out how to do this. I have a modulator modulating filter frequency. I now want to control the frequency(rate) of the modulation manually by assigning it to a controller. Can't do it. What am I missing?

Click on the [MIDI] button on the main window to open the "MIDI Settings" window.
-- select the Controllers tab
-- double-click the first parameter in the list and select Modulators > LFO1 > Frequency
-- set the modulation mode to "Interval"
-- set the Value and Max Value to the range desired
-- click the Controller name and select the desired controller.

Thx. I had forgotten all about that midi button. Great sounding synth but tough in many ways.
