Hi, I am a complete beginner and would appreciate some assistance. I used to use MuLab very simply to record guitar with my Behringer UCG102 USB interface, add a few VST effects to it and some VST synth/ drums. However, since upgrading to Windows 10 I can get no audio whatsoever! I've checked the audio setup, and all the in and out puts and nothing seems to be out of place.
Thanks in advance :)

What version of MuLab? (critical!)

What options are available under MuLab -> Audio Setup?
What options are selected under MuLab -> Audio Setup?
What are you doing to create a track for audio recording?

Post

Hi pljones, cheers for the quick response.
I am using the 32 bit version.
Avaliable options = Driver -ASIO / MME Audio Output (ASIO selected)
Driver Name - Behringer USB Audio is the only option, and is selected
Samplerate - 44100HZ is the only option, and is selected
Inputs 0 and 1 are both Behringer USB Audio, and they are both selected, same for outputs 0 and 1

To create an audio track I add an audio track and set the audio recorder to audio file recorder. It is set to record from IN 0 - Behringer USB audio, and the output is to either the master or another rack with effects, which in turn would go to the master. I have made sure I am monitoring the track. Once again, everything worked fine before Windows 10. I was able to record my guitar and use VST synths through the virtual keyboard, and neither of these things work now.

Also, very 10 minutes or so and whenever I open Mulab, A box appears saying "User Thread wait time-out error @AAE61". The only option is to press OK, which I do, which removes it.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Sounds like an ASIO driver issue to me. Are you sure you have installed the latest Win10 compatible drivers for that audio interface? Check the Behringer website.

I hadn't! I just installed asio4all from the website and everythings now working fine - cheers!!

While I'm here I was wondering if you could also help me with another issue I've got, when I used Cockos REAPER, (on the 60 day freebtrial), I could add multiple audio recording tracks and have a different FX added to each, so I could have both rhythm and lead guitar parts. However when I use MuLab I cannot get the effect to change across audio tracks, the audio I record always goes through the same rack and has the same effects. Is there anyway to record multiple audio tracks that can all go through different racks?

Post

Yes, but you need to dive into modular area for that.

Are we talking about grouping tracks under same rack/bus or something else tho?

You mean take FX in Reaper, no, that's not possible in MuLab and many of other DAW's.

I just want to run at least 2 different audio tracks, recording from my USB audio interface, to separate racks so I can apply different effects to them. At the moment no matter how many audio tracks I add they all output to the same rack and so have to same FX. I'm a complete beginner, sorry if i make no sense

You want same thing to be recorded on two racks simultaneously or you are always recording on same rack no matter what?

For two audio inputs you need two recorders targeting two racks with their own effects:

In MuLab 7 that's simply 2 audio tracks.
Each audio track can record from a different audio input (pair).

I only have the 6.5.46 version so i think its a little different, but I've worked out a way to do what I wanted - I just record audio with the audio file recorder as normal, and then drag the recorded audio to another blank audio track that is paired with a rack with the effects on it I want. I don't know if i'm making any sense but I can do what I want now so cheers!
