I'm coding an app that will translate song files between products directly and when working with the T7 demo it's going really well with the *.tracktionedit files being XML making it really easy to parse most of the information I need to get songs in and out of it from other formats with all of the relevant track and clip data and settings.

The problem I've run into is that the *.tracktion project files are binary and I don't see any easy way to pull the clip associations (and also Sample Rate?) from it.

Any help or clue on how to read that file would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean.

I think he means

"please mo more *uc**** apps.love the things you do with all programs."

Hope this helps. If so, please explain.

I don't know either.

I'm confused. But I've been occasionally known to be slow. :hihi:

At any rate, I only need help getting to the binary data in the *.tracktion files. I can already extract and/or write all of the data parameters I need from the *.tracktion edit xml files.

Maybe I'll just email Tracktion instead. Thanks.

Good luck; hope you get it sorted.

I feel for you, Lawrence. Not the most helpful responses.

Could you explain? Several of us have no idea what you mean.

What's the problem with Lawrence asking a simple question?

This might rank as one of the stranger threads I've seen in a while. :)

I hope the Tracktion dudes can help you Lawrence, as this does sound like a useful tool.

Thanks guys. It's in the early stages but working great so far. As of now (excluding plugins) I have full song translations from Reaper and Ardour (MixBus) with Tracktion on pause until I figure a few things out. Because all of these formats are plain text or xml it's possible to directly convert their song files from any format to any or the other formats including things like fader, pan, clip fade, stretch, gain, trims, and all of that.

Once I get all of the Imports -> Studio One working I'll flip the script and start going the other way, importing into the other products like S1 or similar -> Tracktion and also and likely changing the application name.

Hi Lawrence, we do use a proprietary binary format for the project files for a number of reasons. However, we might be able to help you determine the information you need from it.

The best thing to do is send us a support request via the "Support" button on our website (just type anything into the search box then a "Leave us a message" option will appear). We can then discuss this in more detail.
