iOS9 is able to work with Audio unit format. Some of the better iApps like iSEM are already available for it, and the bigger iOS DAWs already support the format incl. Cubasis, Garageband and Modstep.

Since the iPad pro is considerably more powerful too i'd be interested to run U-He plug ins in the pad.

Ubiks, Zebra, Hive, ACE, even DIVA i'd like to see em all :)

Would be nice to know what Urs stand on the format and may be why?

best regards
C.

Actually, Hive would be a good candidate, wouldn't it? I mean, on the iOS device, you'd have to compromise sound quality to system footprint, so that would be the obvious synth. Not too overwhelming in terms of options and GUI either.

What would it take to develop iOS AU's though? Are they easily convertible from the existing Mac AU format?

No, not really. I know many people who use less powerful computers than the newest iPad generation.

How would you compare that? Mobile CPU's are primarily designed for a low power consumption. Which on the other hand means of course that they are less powerful. I doubt you'd have much fun using Diva on an iPad. At least if you want to use more than 4-6 voices, and multiple instances.

Btw, i see another issue. I can't imagine u-he are willing to go with the iOS price scheme, and offer their synths for a fraction of the price the VST plugins cost. Or are willing to explain, or accept the discrepancy. I could be wrong, of course, just doing guess work.

May be. Thats why i posted here, to have a chance of an answer of Urs himself.

In regards to prices, well i can see that. Otoh a 6-voice Diva with the option to buy more voices via in app purchase might be an option. I am quite sure, it doesnt cut that much into PC/Mac sales. At least not as long as Apple is not merging the platforms/OS like Windows did.

However. Uhbiks could be really cool. ACE too. Z2 lends itself awesomely for touchscreen imo.

So theres that. Good concepts, nice sound and a gap in the market.

Urs said a few times that he doesn't believe in the touchscreen concept for happy knobbing. I doubt we will see such things any time soon.
