Hiya, I am working on Mu.Tools 7 (full license) and really enjoy it, however I am trying to condense a project file I created for audio filtering into a single MUX module for ease! My problem is that whenever (in edit mode) I click to add a component to the front panel of the module, the list of components doesn't appear? Given this I am stuck with preset MUX templates to fiddle around with and reduce.

My platform is ubuntu 12.04 64bit and I am running WINE on there. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Does it work if you drag and drop a control onto the front panel?

It doesn't appear to, however I know from the MUX intro not all components allow that anyhow I think? will try again later and update.

So I checked and I can neither drag an drop or add new components or modules. The drop down box of items I want to use sometimes blinks up for less than a fraction of a second sometimes.
At one point I was able to put a VST (for example Classic EQ by kjaerhus) into pre-existing MUX modules but not sure how to repeat that. I was tired, :-p
I have checked the WINE settings and tried multiple modes, windows vista, windows 8 , xp and 2000 even to no avail.

I am beginning to suspect this is a core problem with WINE itself or the session manager I am in (Ubuntu Unity) I will attempt to change the session to GNOME or KDE and have a look o see what happens.

UPDATE:
Tried running a session under the latest version of Gnome (Gnome-session-fallback) and the results are similar, the dropdown box blinks into existence for slightly longer time and disappears before I can use it.
Any help? anyone getting full use on linux and if so what distro/flavour are you using? Quite annoyed and want help.

It kinda sounds to me like your having some focus issues. The popups
are there but something quickly takes the focus from your mouse, sending
the popup to the back or closing them.

Maybe you can find a way to try to tab through the windows. Or check out
wines settings in regard to window management or gdi calls.

Its been a while since I've used wine or Linux. Unfortunately, in the end
wine is only a poor man's solution and not really a very good one.

Perhaps look into requesting support for MuLab and purchasing crossover.

Honestly though, the best solution is to choose a host that runs natively under Linux.

Good luck.

-Cheers

I'll agree to that, just I have seen no point in using good money to support microsoft when it actively engages in psychological warfare, each O.S release being different and opaque enough to give people who truly liked using previous versions a stress factor that could end in terminal nerd rage. (Kinda felt that was since the XP/Vista changeover.)
I will see how wine handles popups but I assure you it's fine in other areas so I am fine in principle.
I'll keep looking at the problem and post any progress I make.

WINE is optimised for standard Windows Toolkit programs. MuLab uses lower level calls, from what I can see (hence the window decorations being drawn and handled by the application, not the window manager). So WINE may simply be missing functions MuLab expects to be there. Try increasing the log level and see if its reporting anything.

Think that's WINE issue unfortunately, gave up from Linux audio, but using Mint Cinnamon even on my Macbook, it's awesome, on desktop PC, got myself leftover sealed XP for peanuts, MuLab works like a charm there. :tu:

FIXED: I followed a similar thread for another program, elsewhere (just looking at popup issues). I tried removing option for 'allow window manager to decorate windows' but no response, but then I removed 'allow window manager to control windows' and BAM it's working.
Again, remove option for window manager to control windows.

Another 'issue' that I had accepted to working with was that in Mulab, moving windows was jittery unless I used alt+click to move windows, I now know it's for this same reason.
Thank you for your help guys, will definitely be back to check this forum out.

Ah, that makes sense -- yes, it also manages all its own windows (including popups), rather than passing them to the window manager in the standard way from what I can tell.
